As sperm move forward, they are blocked by cervical mucus and swallowed by white blood cells in the pregnancy cavity. In the end, only dozens to one or two hundred sperm reach the fallopian tubes. 2. A woman's ovulation date is about 14 days before the next menstrual period. After the egg is discharged from the ovary, it is immediately sucked into the fallopian tube by the fimbria of the fallopian tube and waits for the arrival of sperm in the ampulla of the fallopian tube. Before the sperm fertilizes the egg, it must be incubated in the female reproductive cavity for a period of time before it has the ability to fertilize. This process is called "sperm capacitation." 3. When the mature follicle develops to a certain stage, it protrudes obviously from the surface of the ovary. With the surge of follicular fluid and the increase of internal pressure, the protruding part of the ovarian tissue becomes thinner and thinner, and finally ruptures. The secondary oocyte and its surrounding zona pellucida and corona radiata are discharged from the ovary along with the follicular fluid. This process is called ovulation. The eggs are produced by the cystic follicles and cysts near the ovaries. During the ovulation period each month, the cystic follicles will appear red and become prominent, and the eggs surrounded by gelatinous substances are discharged at the end of the cystic follicles. |
