Does inflammation affect pregnancy?

Inflammation is a disease caused by inflammation, and it is also a symptom that many people experience. If there is inflammation, it will not only affect people's physical health, but for women, some gynecological inflammations will also affect their pregnancy, causing women to be unable to conceive and give birth normally. So, what are the effects of inflammation on female pregnancy? More on this below!

1. Will inflammation affect pregnancy?

Common gynecological inflammation can cause increased vaginal secretions, which in turn affects the sperm's ability to penetrate the ovum, making it impossible for the sperm to meet the egg normally, reducing the probability of conception. If you have gynecological inflammation, it is recommended to treat it before planning pregnancy. If inflammation is not treated in time before pregnancy, the accelerated metabolism of the human body after pregnancy may directly lead to worsening of inflammation and bring some complications, and the immune function and endocrine system of the pregnant woman will be damaged. Once intrauterine infection, birth canal infection and other factors affect the fetus, it may cause more serious consequences such as miscarriage, premature birth, congenital malformations, and mental retardation.

2. What to do if you have gynecological inflammation and are pregnant

Pregnant mothers should not panic too much if they suffer from gynecological inflammation. Below, the editor will share his own experience with everyone. After a pregnant woman becomes pregnant, due to the effect of hormones, the secretions from her lower body increase and her vulva becomes moist, which easily breeds bacteria. At the same time, pregnant women's resistance is also reduced, and they are more susceptible to external bacteria than ordinary people, so various gynecological inflammations are likely to afflict "expectant mothers".

Pregnant women should avoid using public baths, swimming pools, bathtubs, toilets and clothes, etc. They should change and dry their underwear frequently to reduce indirect transmission and bacterial infection, and aggravate gynecological inflammation.

Pregnant women should maintain good personal hygiene habits. After urinating or defecating, you should use toilet paper to wipe from front to back to prevent anal bacteria from being transmitted to the vagina and urethra; wash the vulva every day to keep it clean and dry; wear silk or pure cotton clothes that are highly breathable, soft and loose to allow the vulva to breathe fresh air and reduce bacterial growth.

Pregnant women should try to avoid sitting for long periods of time, reduce the chance of making the genitals damp and stuffy, and eat less spicy and irritating foods to avoid promoting dampness and heat and inducing various types of inflammation.

3. Which inflammations can prevent pregnancy?

Women with the following three types of gynecological inflammation cannot conceive:

1. Vaginitis. The pathogens that cause vaginitis include gonococci, mycoplasma, chlamydia, Trichomonas, fungi, etc. These pathogens can directly devour sperm and cause infertility.

2. Cervicitis. Local inflammation caused by the invasion of various pathogenic factors is mainly manifested as cervical congestion and edema. In severe cases, it may lead to cervical erosion, often accompanied by changes in vaginal secretions, urgency, frequency of urination, lower abdominal pain, etc.

3. Adnexitis. Adnexitis affects the fallopian tubes and continues to expand to cause oophoritis. Since the fallopian tubes and ovaries are inflamed at the same time, it is called fallopian tube oophoritis.
