The menstrual period came and then stopped after a few drops of blood

Menstruation should come on time every month for women. If menstruation does not come on time, and it is one week early or late, it is considered abnormal. If menstruation is only one week early or late, it is generally not a big problem. Some women only have a few drops of blood during their menstruation, which makes female friends at a loss. Why do menstruation stop with just a few drops of blood? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. What happens if my menstrual period stops after a few drops of blood?

Menstruation is the periodic shedding and bleeding of the endometrium as the level of ovarian hormones changes. Normal menstrual volume is 20-60ml. More than 80ml is considered menorrhagia, and less than 20ml is considered oligomenorrhea. If you normally have heavy menstrual flow but only light this time, it is recommended that you undergo routine blood tests, gynecological color ultrasound, and six hormone tests to determine the cause. If the cause is anemia, correction of the anemia is recommended. If it is caused by endocrine disorders, it is recommended to take hormone drugs such as estradiol and progesterone. The specific medication recommendations will be guided by the doctor in the consultation.

2.What is oligomenorrhea?

Oligomenorrhea includes two types: infrequent menstruation and scanty menstruation. The normal menstrual cycle of a woman is 21 to 35 days, with an average of 28 days. The total volume of each menstrual period is between 5 and 80 ml. Oligomenorrhea refers to a prolonged menstrual cycle, which is delayed by more than 1 week compared to the normal cycle, but not more than 6 months, while the menstrual period and menstrual volume may be normal. Oligomenorrhea refers to a normal menstrual cycle but a significantly reduced menstrual volume, with each volume not exceeding 5 ml, or the menstruation stops after 2 days, or even just a few drops. The two often occur simultaneously and are collectively known as oligomenorrhea.
