Fetal changes at different stages of pregnancy

Fetal changes at different stages of pregnancy

At different stages of pregnancy, you will notice different changes in the fetus, which will become clearer and clearer. If you want to visually see the specific changes in the fetus in your belly, you can go to the hospital for color ultrasound and B-ultrasound examinations. Both of these examination methods can see the condition of the fetus through the instrument. You can see them become human form, and you can also know the gender of your fetus, as well as its heartbeat and breathing conditions through the examination.

1.4 Weekend

That is, 2 weeks after fertilization, the fertilized egg has entered the uterine wall and begins to develop.

2.8 Weekend

The embryo has begun to take human form, with the head taking up half of the entire body. The eyes, ears, mouth, nose and limbs can be discerned, and it has already taken shape. Ultrasound examination showed early heart formation and beating.

3.12 Weekend

The external genitalia have developed, and the gender can usually be identified. Fingernails and toenails have grown, the intestines have started to move, and the baby has the ability to absorb glucose.

4.16 Weekend

The sex of the fetus can be determined from the external genitalia. Hair has grown on the scalp, the skin is red, smooth and transparent, and the fetus has begun breathing and movement.

5.20 Weekend

The whole body is covered with vellus hair. If the fetus is expelled from the mother's body at this time, it will have heartbeat, breathing, urination and swallowing functions. The pregnant woman can feel the fetal movement and the fetal heartbeat can be heard during examination.

6.24 weekend

All organs have developed and subcutaneous fat has begun to deposit, but the skin still has wrinkles.

7.28 Weekend

The fetus is about 35 cm long and weighs about 1000 grams. It has little subcutaneous fat deposition and pink skin. It can have breathing movements, but its lungs are immature. It can cry after birth, but its vitality is very weak.

8.32 Weekend

The fetus is about 40 cm long and weighs about 1700 grams. The skin is dark red and the facial hair has fallen off. The baby is still viable and may survive with enhanced care after birth.

9.36 Weekend

It is 45 cm long and weighs about 2,500 g. It has a lot of subcutaneous fat and its fingernails and toenails have reached the tips of the fingers and toes. It can cry and suck after birth and has good vitality. Babies born at this time can basically survive.

10.40 Weekend

The fetus is mature, about 50 cm long, weighing more than 3,000 grams, with plump subcutaneous fat, pink skin, and nails that extend beyond the tips of the fingers and toes. After birth, they cry loudly, have strong sucking ability, strong vitality, and can survive well.

The fetal head is the largest part of the fetus and is also the most difficult part for the fetus to pass through the birth canal. However, the fetal skull has a certain plasticity, that is, the edges of the cranial sutures can overlap slightly, allowing the head to adapt to the birth canal and complete delivery.

After birth, the placental circulation stops, pulmonary circulation is established, and spontaneous breathing begins, with loud crying, indicating the beginning of a new life.

In the last three months before birth, the fetus can even eavesdrop on adults talking, distinguish between male and female voices, and "monitor" the mother's emotions. Studies have found that the fetus's hearing becomes rapidly acute between 32 and 35 weeks, at which time it will turn its head toward a sound source. The most attractive voice to the fetus is the mother's voice. The fetus will listen to this special "music" for most of its waking hours.
