Breast cancer spread

Breast cancer spread

Breast cancer is a common condition in our lives. If this disease is not treated in time, it will cause breast cancer to spread, metastasize to the liver and lungs, and also metastasize to the lungs, so breast cancer patients should receive treatment immediately. Breast cancer is a relatively difficult disease to treat, requiring chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical resection, but it will cause women to lose the ability to breastfeed.

Where does breast cancer metastasize to?

1. Metastasis to the liver

The metastasis rate of breast cancer to the liver can reach more than 20%. The metastasis route is through the blood. Cancer cells will reach the liver directly through the lymphatic pathway. The metastatic lesions will be multifocal. Patients do not have any symptoms in the early stages and there is no abnormality in liver function. In the late stage, the liver volume of patients will increase significantly and they will feel pain. At this time, the patient's condition will deteriorate rapidly and may even cause death.

2. Brain metastasis may occur

The probability of brain metastasis from breast cancer can be as high as about 5%, which is mainly divided into brain parenchymal metastasis and meningeal metastasis. Brain metastasis can cause brain edema or brain swelling, leading to increased intracranial pressure. Patients will experience visual impairment, headache, nausea, vomiting, convulsions and even coma.

3. Lung and chest metastasis

Most breast cancers will metastasize to the lungs and chest cavity. Lung metastasis usually presents as multiple nodules. Patients will experience chest tightness and pain, coughing, coughing up blood, blood in sputum, etc. When metastases to the chest cavity, pleural effusion will occur.

4. Bone metastasis

There is a 60% chance that breast cancer will metastasize to the bones, mainly to the ribs, pelvis and vertebrae. When bone metastasis occurs, it mainly invades the bone marrow. Irregular bone destruction can be found during X-ray examinations.
