Don’t wait for the “wind” to come! The first batch of post-90s have become a high-risk group

With the development of social economy,

The prevalence of stroke among Chinese residents has increased dramatically .

Currently, adults aged 40 and above in my country

The stroke prevalence rate was 2.6% .

Based on this estimate

People aged 40 and above in China

The number of people currently suffering from or having had a stroke is approximately 17.8 million .

Currently, the first batch of "post-90s" have become a high-risk group for stroke.

Relevant identification and intervention work cannot be delayed.

About 80% of stroke survivors have varying degrees of disability, of which about 75% lose their ability to work and 40% are severely disabled and completely unable to take care of themselves, which brings a huge burden to personal health, family well-being and social development.

How to quickly identify a stroke?

The “Stroke 120” formula is a strategy for ordinary people to quickly identify stroke and take immediate action:

“1” means “seeing 1 asymmetrical face”;

“2” means “check both arms for unilateral weakness”;

"0" means "listening (zero) to whether the speech is clear."

If you suspect the patient has a stroke through these three steps of observation, you can immediately call the emergency number 120.

How to prevent stroke?

So, how should we prevent stroke?

The prevention of stroke should focus on the "four cornerstones of health" of proper diet, moderate exercise, smoking cessation and alcohol restriction, and psychological balance. Taking nine preventive measures can effectively reduce the occurrence of stroke.

1. Self-screening for high-risk factors

According to the recommendation of the "Stroke High-risk Population Screening and Intervention Project" launched by the Stroke Prevention and Control Project Committee of the National Health Commission, people aged 40 and above can self-screen through the "8+2" risk score. Among them, "8" refers to the eight major risk factors for stroke, namely, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, smoking, atrial fibrillation, overweight or obesity, lack of exercise, and family history of stroke; "2" refers to having had a stroke or a transient ischemic attack (TIA).

People who have three or more of the above risk factors, or have had a stroke or a transient ischemic attack (TIA), are assessed as being at high risk of stroke and are advised to consult a specialist about stroke prevention immediately.

2. Keep your blood pressure under control

People over 35 should measure their blood pressure at least once a year, and patients with hypertension should measure it at least once a month. Patients with hypertension also need to actively take medication.

3. Keep your blood sugar under control

People without risk factors for diabetes are recommended to start screening at age ≥40 years old, and people with risk factors for stroke should have their blood sugar tested regularly.

4. Control blood lipids

It is recommended that adults over 20 years old should measure fasting blood lipids at least once every 5 years. Men over 40 years old and postmenopausal women should have blood lipid testing every year. For people at high risk of ischemic cardiovascular disease and ischemic stroke, blood lipids should be measured once every 3-6 months.

5. Quit smoking

Smoking has many disadvantages and no advantages. Everyone should actively refuse to smoke and avoid the harm of secondhand smoke.

6. Control your weight

Overweight and obese people can lose weight through a healthy lifestyle, good eating habits, increased physical activity and other measures, which is beneficial for controlling blood pressure and reducing the risk of stroke.

7. Eat Healthy

Daily diet should be diversified to make energy and nutrient intake reasonable. Daily salt intake should not exceed 5 grams, diet should be low in oil, cholesterol and carbohydrate intake should be controlled, and drinking should be avoided.

8. Scientific Movement

Healthy adults should participate in aerobic exercises 3-4 times a week, each time lasting more than 40 minutes, such as brisk walking, jogging, cycling, etc. Middle-aged and elderly people can participate in fitness exercises that are beneficial to the body and mind according to their own conditions.

9. Actively treat related diseases

Actively treat related diseases, such as myocardial infarction, atrial fibrillation, peripheral arterial disease, etc. The risk of stroke in people with the above diseases is significantly higher than that of ordinary people. They should have regular physical examinations, receive treatment from specialists, and take medication as prescribed by doctors.

Time is life. The harm of stroke is terrible, but it is also preventable and controllable. The key to effectively prevent and treat stroke is "early". Early detection, early prevention, early diagnosis and early treatment can effectively prevent and treat the occurrence of stroke.
