Numbness above the cesarean section incision

Numbness above the cesarean section incision

Many women have to choose cesarean section when giving birth for various reasons. Although medical technology is developing rapidly nowadays, many women will leave obvious scars on the surface of their skin after cesarean section, and sometimes there will be some numbness at the wound site. When this happens, women need to take effective care of the wound and surrounding areas.

Precautions for numbness above the cesarean section incision

Note 1:

Wear large underwear to prevent contact with the wound

Note 2: Relax your mind and take care of your body patiently.

Note three:

Drink plenty of water to avoid constipation. This is also beneficial for new mothers to breastfeed.

Note 4:

Try to protect the wound as much as possible. When you cough or laugh, support the wound with your hands or use a pillow to support your stomach, and the pain will be relieved.

See your doctor if you develop signs of infection, including warmth, redness, or swelling at the wound site; drainage from the wound site; worsening or sudden pain; or a general fever (even if your wound appears fine).

Note five:

Pay attention to hygiene, brush your teeth, wash and comb your hair as usual, and change clothes and hygiene products in time. When taking a bath, it is best to cover the wound with waterproof tape.

Note six:

Watch for lochia, although it may last closer to 6 weeks. But it should gradually change from bright red to pink and then to yellow-white. If menstrual-like bleeding continues for more than 4 days after delivery, or decreases and then increases again, you should go to the hospital. Note seven:

To be active in time, it is necessary to get up and walk around regularly. Start slowly and gradually increase your activity. You can start doing moderate exercise 6 to 8 weeks after surgery, but you must get your doctor's approval before you can do so.

Caesarean section care

Pay attention to cesarean section wound care

First of all, you must keep the wound clean and dry to avoid infection caused by redness and swelling of the wound. Do not get the wound wet within 2 weeks after the operation. Once the wound shows local redness, swelling, heat, cracking, or purulent secretions, or has a fever, you must go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible.

Use minimal movement to prevent the stitches from breaking. After returning home, the mother should rest as much as possible and get up regularly to exercise lightly, but avoid overexertion and avoid holding the baby or lifting heavy objects to avoid squeezing the wound and causing local redness and swelling. In addition, you should keep warm, eat a healthy diet, and avoid stomachaches and colds, because coughing, nausea, and vomiting can cause stitches to break.

Diet care:

Increase protein and high-calorie diet within one week after delivery; eat more foods high in fiber to prevent constipation, which can cause increased negative pressure and tear sutures.
