How to sleep well when pregnant

Pregnant women tend to be sleepy in the early stages of pregnancy because the progesterone in women's bodies will rise rapidly during pregnancy, which will cause women to be sleepy. It is very important for pregnant women to get enough sleep. Pregnant women can get enough rest during deep sleep, so that the fetus can grow better in the body. However, you must pay attention to your sleeping posture and don't press the baby. So how can pregnant women sleep better?

Normal adults generally only need to ensure 8 hours of sleep a day. Pregnant women can sleep one hour more than usual because they consume too much nutrition and energy and are easily fatigued. They also need to insist on taking a nap, but the time should not exceed two hours. Pregnant women with varicose veins can raise their feet when sleeping; it is best to have a fixed schedule, avoid crowded environments, and keep relaxed.

If pregnant women always sleep on their backs, there will be many disadvantages. Because the fetus has a higher center of gravity, the enlarged uterus will put pressure on the spine. Pregnant women will feel unwell and experience dizziness, chest tightness, etc. It may also affect the blood supply to the kidneys, reduce urine output and the excretion of toxic substances, and some may even develop gestational hypertension. Therefore, sleeping position is very important for pregnant women and can be adjusted according to the different stages of pregnancy.

In the early stages of pregnancy, because the enlargement of the uterus is not very obvious, you can sleep freely. But in the middle stages of pregnancy, after the uterus has enlarged, it is best to sleep on your side, either the left or right side, and it is best not to sleep on your back. In the later stages of pregnancy, the enlarged uterus gradually occupies most of the abdomen and pelvis. It is best to sleep in the left side position, which can reduce pressure on the inferior vena cava and relieve insufficient blood supply to the uterus.
