Self-examination of the breast

Self-examination of the breast

For women, it is important to pay attention to whether they have breast diseases on a daily basis. And through some techniques, we can determine whether you have breast nodules. For example, when we touch the breast, we feel a lump inside, which is the most common symptom of breast nodules. However, this situation can also occur with breast hyperplasia. If you don’t know how to judge through self-examination, you should go to the hospital for examination.

Breast self-examination can be done by "looking, touching, lying down, and twisting". Self-examination can prevent breast cancer so that timely treatment can be given. For women with normal menstruation, the best time to have a breast examination is 9 to 11 days after the onset of menstruation. At this time, the effect of estrogen on the breast is minimal, and the breast is in a dormant state, making it easy to detect lesions.

If a lump appears during lactation and is clinically suspected to be a tumor, further examination should be conducted after weaning. The breast is an ectodermal organ that originates from the skin and belongs to the superficial structure of the chest wall. Girls' breasts begin to develop at the age of 12 to 13 and are basically mature at the age of 15 to 17. Although there are differences among different races and ethnic groups, the mammary gland is generally composed of 15 to 20 lobes. Breast hypoplasia is essentially a tissue deficiency, so the treatment should be to increase the breast contents, expand the volume, improve the appearance, and make women show their unique curves and charm.

To check whether the breasts are healthy, we can judge through the following aspects.

1. Skin: The color of the breast skin is normal without edema, rash, ulceration, superficial vein distension, skin wrinkles or orange peel-like changes.

2. Nipple and areola: There is no local redness, swelling or other changes in the areola and nipple, and the nipple is not inverted.

3. Nipple discharge: It is necessary to check whether there is nipple discharge, and to check in detail whether it is overflowing on its own or after squeezing, whether it is unilateral or bilateral, and what the nature of the discharge is.

4. Breast lumps: Check the location, shape, size, number, texture, surface smoothness, mobility and tenderness of breast lumps.

5. Appearance: The size and position of the breast are normal.
