Hard belly during pregnancy

Hard belly during pregnancy

A hard belly in the second trimester of pregnancy is a symptom of false labor. This is because the belly is tightened due to uterine contraction, which can cause a hard belly. We can massage the belly to relieve the symptoms of a hard belly. This symptom does not last long, and the accelerated growth of the uterus can cause abdominal pain. These are all normal. Pregnant women should pay more attention to rest and avoid catching cold.

What is the reason for the hard but not painful stomach in the second trimester of pregnancy?

1. Pain in the round ligament of the uterus. Persistent dull pain in the lower abdomen without any cause may occur during the 5th to 6th month of pregnancy. This is mostly due to the accelerated growth of the uterus. The round ligaments supporting the uterus also stretch, lengthen, and increase in tension. The uterine wall where the round ligament is attached is pulled, causing pain and abdominal tightness.

2. Pregnant women catch cold. Kicking off the quilt at night or using too much air conditioning can cause a hard stomach.

3. Fatigue during pregnancy. Insisting on going to work, high work pressure, and mental tension and not being able to relax can also cause a hard stomach.

4. Constipation during pregnancy. It will also cause the belly to tighten because it requires force, which increases the pressure in the abdominal cavity, and the fetus will be very uncomfortable in the belly.

5. Too many activities. Or the action is too intense. Some pregnant women suddenly stand up after sitting for a long time, which can also cause their belly to tighten.

What to do if your abdomen becomes hard during pregnancy

1. Pregnant women who insist on going to work should not do work that is too stressful. They should change their positions in time and find some easier work. It is recommended that you stop the work at hand, go for a walk outdoors, promote blood circulation, breathe fresh air, and listen to some soothing music (such as a Walkman).

2. When your belly feels hard, don't be too nervous. It's best to sit down or lie down to rest. Try relaxation exercises, or taking slow, deep breaths.

3. If constipation causes a hard belly accompanied by pain, it is recommended that you stop going to the toilet immediately, stand up slowly, return to your seat or bed to rest.

4. If it is similar to menstrual pain and bleeding, seek medical attention immediately. In the early stages of pregnancy, you should also rule out the possibility of threatened miscarriage and be careful.

5. Take a hot bath and relax your body.

6. Drink a few glasses of water, as false labor can sometimes be caused by dehydration.
