(1) Cessation of menstruation

Menopause means the cessation of women's menstruation, and natural menopause is mainly caused by the depletion of follicles in women's ovaries and ovarian failure, resulting in permanent menopause. Regarding the question of what the diagnostic criteria for menopause are, generally speaking, if a woman's menstruation stops for more than one year after menopause, it can be judged that the woman has entered menopause.

(2) Urogenital atrophy

What are the diagnostic criteria for menopause? After menopause, due to the lack of estrogen nourishment in the female body, the internal and external genitals as well as the bladder, urethra, etc. will atrophy. The main manifestations are flattening of vaginal folds and atrophy and thinning of the vaginal epithelium. In addition, postmenopausal women will also experience atrophy of the cervix and uterine body, and the flattening of the cervix can be seen with the naked eye. Due to the atrophy of sexual organs, many elderly women experience difficulties and pain in sexual life.

(3) Changes in secondary sexual characteristics

After the ovarian function declines, the breasts gradually atrophy and sag due to the loss of the accurate effects of estrogen and progesterone, while the skin also experiences a series of changes such as loss of skin elasticity and development of wrinkles due to the lack of estrogen.

(4) Changes in mental state

Women in menopause will also undergo a series of mental changes, mainly manifested as emotional instability, irritability and uncontrollable temper, but afterwards they will feel self-blame and regret, and at the same time they will also have many symptoms such as memory loss, depression, neurasthenia, etc.
