Mycoplasma positive in female secretions

Mycoplasma positive in female secretions

Many women need to have a physical examination during the preparation for pregnancy period. The results of the examination are often very unsatisfactory. First of all, they may be found to be mycoplasma positive. This condition will make people very worried, but they don’t know how to treat it, and it will also affect the progress of pregnancy preparation. In fact, most of the mycoplasma positive cases may be sexually transmitted diseases or viral infections. It is necessary to find the factors of infection and choose the appropriate method of treatment.

What are the dangers of mycoplasma infection?

Generally speaking, the mycoplasmas related to gynecology are mainly Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum.

Ureaplasma urealyticum is one of the most common parasites in the human urogenital tract, and is transmitted through sexual contact and mother-to-child transmission.

Ureaplasma urealyticum is a pathogenic mycoplasma of urogenital tract infection. When positive, it adheres to human epithelial cells. Under normal circumstances, it is not pathogenic, but when the body's resistance is weak or the mucosa is damaged, it will form pathogenic bacteria. It is the main pathogen that causes reproductive tract diseases such as cervicitis, endometritis, infertility, and miscarriage. If infected with mycoplasma during pregnancy, it can infect the fetus and newborn, causing premature birth, stillbirth, low birth weight, neonatal meningitis, etc. The main treatment method is broad-spectrum antibiotics, but they are prone to drug resistance and can easily lead to an imbalance in the bacterial flora, causing recurrent infections.

How to treat mycoplasma positive

Generally speaking, if there is no need to prepare for pregnancy, and the test result is simply mycoplasma positive, with no inflammatory symptoms, such as no itching, odor, abnormal leucorrhea, etc., many doctors do not advocate treatment. If you are preparing for pregnancy, or if there is obvious poor cleanliness of leucorrhea or symptoms of gynecological inflammation, antibiotics are usually used for treatment. Both husband and wife should receive standardized treatment.

Symptoms of mycoplasma infection: Most people who test positive for mycoplasma do not feel obvious symptoms. When the infection is more serious, there will be common symptoms of vaginitis, such as leucorrhea with bad odor and itching. If the infection reaches the uterus, it will manifest as increased leucorrhea, turbidity, cervical edema, congestion or surface erosion. When the infection spreads to the urethra, symptoms include redness and congestion of the urethral opening. A small amount of secretions may overflow from the urethra when the urethra is squeezed, but tenderness rarely occurs.

Commonly used antibiotics include doxycycline, erythromycin, josamycin, leukomycin, spiramycin, chloramphenicol, midecamycin, streptomycin, and amikacin. Specific medication should be used according to the doctor's instructions and the standard course of treatment. Otherwise, drug resistance may easily develop.

In addition, the simple use of antibiotics will kill a large number of lactobacilli in the female private parts, destroying the balance of the bacterial flora and the self-cleaning and self-healing ability, which is prone to recurrence and may also cause other types of vaginitis. Therefore, more and more doctors now recommend the use of probiotic gel containing lactobacillus to help restore the balance of the bacterial flora after using antibiotics.
