Why do women grow beards?

Everyone knows that beard is the second characteristic of men and only appears in male friends. This is related to the secretion of male hormones. However, some female friends also have the phenomenon of growing beards. It is mainly caused by excessive secretion of male hormones in women's bodies, which will cause the growth of beards and longer hair on the legs and hands. It is a congenital reason. Without timely treatment, it will not recover and will also affect the balance of hormone secretion.

Why do women grow beards?

The main reasons for women growing beards are congenital factors and acquired factors.

1. The main reason for growing a mustache is the excessive secretion of male hormones in the body. Lip hair is a type of body hair. There are many reasons for heavy lip hair, which can be divided into congenital and acquired, and all of them are medically caused. Iatrogenicity is mainly caused by the long-term use of certain drugs during medical treatment, which can lead to increased lip hair. Generally, it will slowly recover after stopping the medication.

As for congenital ones, if they are not treated, they generally will not recover on their own.

2. In the process of hair growth, androgens play a dominant role. The reason why women grow mustaches is that the level of male hormones in the hair follicles around their lips is too high.

Most dermatologists will recommend drinking more soy milk and other suppressive treatments for the mustache, but the effect is often not good. What this group of people needs most is to stabilize the hormone levels around the lips and restore them to normal, inhibiting the activity of androgen, so that the mustache can be permanently removed.

3. After puberty, androgens stimulate the growth of beard, armpit and pubic hair. For individuals with a specific genetic background, androgens cause the hair on the front of the head to gradually transform into vellus hair, eventually forming androgenic alopecia.

This does not occur in patients with androgen insensitivity syndrome. These biological and pathological phenomena suggest that human hair follicles have a genetic susceptibility to androgen-dependent growth.

4. The hair follicles in the human body are a unique and independent organ that continuously undergo a cyclical cycle of growth, regression and resting phases throughout the life of the organism.

The hair follicle epithelial components from the ectoderm and the hair follicle dermis components from the mesoderm interact with each other, and through autocrine, paracrine and endocrine, a large number of growth factors, cytokines, hormones and neuropeptides are synthesized and metabolized in the hair follicles and their surrounding areas to complete a complex and orderly hair growth cycle. Androgen is the main regulatory factor that changes human hair growth.

5. Distribution and metabolism of androgens and their receptors in hair follicles The biological activity of androgens is received by their intracellular receptors, which belong to the ligand-dependent transcription factor superfamily.

After androgens bind to androgen receptors, a series of post-receptor mechanisms are used to transfer the androgen receptors to the nucleus. The ligand-receptor complex binds to the ligand binding region on DNA, activating hormone response elements, thereby regulating gene expression and affecting the synthesis of hair proteins.
