Why do I have frequent urination after a cesarean section?

Many pregnant women eventually choose cesarean section for various reasons. Although this is a relatively mature method of delivery, it is a surgery after all, and it causes much more harm to the body than natural delivery. It is inevitable that some symptoms will appear. So what is the cause of frequent urination after cesarean section? Urinating is a very important metabolic method for pregnant women. If you have frequent urination after giving birth, it is best to get checked to avoid the possibility of disease.

What causes frequent urination after cesarean section?

Urinating is a normal metabolism of the human body. It not only eliminates toxins and urea produced by the metabolism of various organs, but also helps regulate the balance of water and inorganic salts in the body and maintain the normal physiological functions of tissues. Clinically, uncomfortable urination is often related to urinary tract infection. Among them, frequent urination and urgency are the most common. For most patients with urinary tract infections, urinary urgency is often accompanied by symptoms such as frequent urination and painful urination, and sometimes they may even appear at the same time. It is mostly caused by lower urinary tract lesions.

1. Urgent urination

It refers to the phenomenon of having an uncontrollable urgency when urinating and the need to urinate immediately when the urge comes.

2. Frequent urination

It means that the frequency of urination exceeds the normal range, not just the amount of urine. Frequent urination and urgency are the most common urinary system symptoms in women, not diseases. A normal adult urinates 4 to 6 times during the day and 0 to 2 times at night. A significant increase in the number of urination is called frequent urination.

3. Painful urination

It refers to pain during urination, which may occur in the perineum, urethra and other parts, usually as cramping or burning pain.

A variety of reasons can cause frequent urination and urgency in women, including neuropsychiatric factors, physical weakness after illness, parasitic diseases, urinary stones, cystitis, urinary tract infection, etc.

1. Urinary tract infection

Every woman will have a urinary tract infection at least once in her life. Women are particularly vulnerable to infection due to their anatomical and physiological characteristics. In normal people, there are bacteria living in and around the urethra opening. However, because the urinary tract mucosa has the ability to resist bacterial invasion and is constantly flushed by urine, it is not easy to cause disease. The female anterior urethra is short and wide, and factors such as menstruation, sexual life, and pregnancy make it easy for bacteria to invade. Various iatrogenic urethral interventional procedures (such as catheterization, cystoscopy) and various chronic diseases (such as diabetes, glomerulonephritis) are also important factors that make it easy for bacteria to invade the urinary tract and cause disease.

2. Cystitis

It is the most common disease of the urinary system, especially in women. It is divided into acute and chronic. Symptoms include a history of frequent urination, urgency and pain when urinating. Routine urine examination can confirm the diagnosis. Chronic cystitis is often secondary to other diseases of the genitourinary system and is slightly difficult to diagnose. The important thing is to find out the type of pathogenic bacteria and the results of drug sensitivity tests, and to find the causes of persistent or recurrent infection.
