Targeted breast screening

Targeted breast screening

In the hospital, there are all kinds of examination items for various parts of the human body, and each part has a targeted examination, so as to ensure that each examination can accurately check the specific situation of the disease. Breast targeted examination is an examination specifically for the breast area. This examination method can specifically check what kind of disease has occurred in the breast area, which makes it convenient for doctors to carry out targeted treatment for the disease.

Directed therapy is treatment directed at a target. The breast cancer targeted drug Herceptin, whose chemical name is trastuzumab, mainly targets the Her-2 receptor on breast cancer cells. This receptor is like a key that opens the lock of tumor cells and stimulates their rapid growth, reproduction and metastasis. After using Herceptin, this stimulation will stop, so the proliferation and metastasis rate of tumor cells will be significantly reduced.

The following points should be noted when using Herceptin targeted therapy:

1. Conditions: So, the use of Herceptin also requires conditions. First, we need to look at the immunohistochemistry results of the resected or punctured tumor tissue. If it is 3+, Herceptin can be used for treatment. If it is 2+, a further FISH test is needed. If it is still positive, Herceptin can be used for treatment. If it is negative, there is no need to use targeted therapy.

2. Time: If it is targeted therapy after surgery, it only takes one year to stop. However, if the patient is in the advanced stage, he or she must continue using the drug unless intolerable side effects occur.

3. Side effects: Herceptin is somewhat toxic to the heart, so regular cardiac ultrasound examinations are required during use to make sure that the ejection fraction has not decreased significantly before use. However, don't worry, even if heart function is damaged, it can generally be recovered after stopping the medication.
