Pregnant women midterm abdominal pain

Pregnant women midterm abdominal pain

The second half of pregnancy is about four or five months of pregnancy. During this period, some pregnant women will occasionally feel abdominal pain. The fetus at this time has become stable and will be accompanied by fetal movements from time to time, so the abdominal pain may be caused by fetal movements, but the possibility of miscarriage is not ruled out. In short, no matter what the reason is, as long as you feel abdominal pain, you must go for a prenatal check-up to reduce the possibility of miscarriage.

Mid pregnancy abdominal pain refers to the abdominal pain that many pregnant women feel around 4 months into their pregnancy, when the uterus enlarges and the round ligament of the uterus is stretched. If the abdominal pain is mild, it will be relieved by rest. However, if the abdominal pain is intermittent, or there is continuous pain in the lower abdomen, like the pain before or during menstruation, and is accompanied by vaginal bleeding, it is likely a pathological phenomenon and you should go to the hospital for treatment in time.

1. Physiological abdominal pain

(1) Around 4 months of pregnancy, the uterus enlarges and the round ligament of the uterus is stretched, causing many pregnant women to feel some abdominal pain. This type of pain is mostly located on one or both sides of the uterus in the lower abdomen, and is referred pain, dull pain or lack thereof. The pain becomes more obvious when walking a long distance or changing body position.

(2) Exerting too much force during sexual intercourse during the second trimester of pregnancy can also cause abdominal pain in pregnant women.

2. Pathological abdominal pain

In the second half of pregnancy, the fetus gradually grows and the intra-abdominal pressure of the pregnant woman also increases. If a pregnant woman's esophageal hiatus widens, she may develop a "hiatal hernia" and suffer from abdominal pain. At this time, abdominal pain is often accompanied by symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, chest pain, acid reflux, and hiccups. The incidence of hiatal hernia during pregnancy is about 30% to 50%, and the symptoms are sometimes more obvious in the late pregnancy.

1. Bed rest

When you feel lower back pain, a heavy feeling in the abdomen, or other abnormal symptoms, stop activities immediately, rest in bed more, and observe carefully. If the symptoms do not improve, seek medical attention immediately. Avoid excessive fatigue and strenuous activities. The first 3 months of pregnancy is a high-risk period for miscarriage, so sexual intercourse should be avoided as much as possible.

2. Food and daily life

It is advisable to eat small meals frequently and eat less sweet, spicy, or sticky food. After meals, you should not lie flat on the bed or lie too low. Try to bend over as little as possible to reduce acid reflux. Keep your bowels open. If you find symptoms of gastric reflux, you can raise your upper body about 20°. If abdominal pain is accompanied by coffee-like or brown blood discharge from the vagina, you should seek medical attention promptly and receive treatment according to the doctor's orders.
