Watery discharge after menopause

Watery discharge after menopause

Although most women believe that menstruation is a physiological phenomenon that causes great torture to their bodies, because during menstruation, women's bodies will become weak, and some women will experience dysmenorrhea, the pain of which is indescribable. However, when a woman finds that her body is experiencing menopause, she will still feel very sad. What is the reason for watery discharge from the lower body after menopause?

What is the cause of watery leucorrhea after menopause?

In clinical practice, abnormal watery leucorrhea and excessive leucorrhea are now very common after menopause. It may be due to gynecological inflammation causing increased leucorrhea after menopause, or it may be due to a tumor. Therefore, women with increased leucorrhea after menopause should go to the hospital for examination in time and receive early treatment. Common causes of increased vaginal discharge after menopause are:

1. Senile vaginitis. After menopause, the vaginal mucosa becomes thinner, and its ability to resist infection and friction is greatly reduced, so it is extremely susceptible to infection by pathogenic bacteria. When the amount of leucorrhea increases and is accompanied by local itching, burning sensation, or even local tenderness, it often indicates senile vaginitis. A small amount of estrogen should be added locally on the basis of anti-inflammatory treatment for better results.

2. Gynecological tumors. When watery, bloody or purulent leucorrhea is not effectively treated with symptomatic treatment, gynecological tumors should be considered. Gynecological examination can directly understand the condition of the vagina and cervix, and if necessary, scraping, suction and cervical biopsy can be performed to assist in diagnosis.

3. Abnormal estrogen appears in the body. When the vaginal mucosa proliferates after menopause and leucorrhea appears like that during the childbearing age, it often indicates the presence of estrogen in the body. Clinically, it is occasionally found that ovarian follicles grow again and secrete estrogen after menopause. But we should also pay attention to the fact that some ovarian tumors and adrenal tumors also secrete hormones, which are medically called functional tumors. Hormone levels should be measured, and necessary tests should be done to remove the tumor.

4. Drug factors. With the improvement of living standards, the use of tonic products by the elderly has increased. Many longevity and nutritional medicines contain hormone components, and tonic Chinese medicines often contain a large amount of kidney-tonifying drugs, all of which can cause an increase in leucorrhea.

With the popularization of scientific knowledge, drugs can cause local mucosal hyperplasia and increase leucorrhea. Of course, the increase is not too much and will disappear after stopping the medication. In short, the increase in leucorrhea after menopause is mostly related to too little or too much sex hormones. It is important to have a gynecological examination to confirm whether there is a tumor.

If women have watery leucorrhea during menopause, it must be taken seriously because it is a bad phenomenon. After menopause, the level of sex hormones in women decreases and the secretions in the vagina decrease, so watery leucorrhea appears instead. This is an abnormal phenomenon and must be treated in time to see what causes it.
