Can pregnant women drink sparkling water?

Many beverages we come into contact with in our lives are made of sparkling water. The substances contained in these sparkling waters are carbonic acid, because the presence of carbonic acid can produce a large number of bubbles. However, for some pregnant women, during pregnancy, they may want to eat some special foods, but for some foods such as sparkling water, they should try to avoid contact, because it is not good for the fetus. So can pregnant women drink sparkling water?

Pregnant women often experience loss of appetite and a tasteless mouth, especially those in the early stages of pregnancy. Because of pregnancy reactions, they often want to drink cool and stimulating beverages. Compared to other carbonated drinks, sparkling water is the most ideal choice.

①. Carbonated drinks contain sugar. The biggest problem with carbonated drinks is the excessive use of sugar. It is fine for pregnant women to drink only a small amount, but if they drink for a long time, it will cause excessive sugar intake and cause health problems.

② Most of the ingredients in carbonated beverages contain phosphoric acid. The absorption of a large amount of phosphoric acid will cause an imbalance in the ratio of calcium and phosphorus. In addition, phosphoric acid will combine with calcium in the body and eventually be excreted from the body, causing calcium loss and thus causing osteoporosis and other problems.

③. Carbonated drinks also contain caffeine. Although the content is very small, it still has some adverse effects to a greater or lesser extent, and it can also cause uterine contractions;

④. Sodium bicarbonate in carbonated drinks. Adding sodium bicarbonate to citric acid will form carbonic acid gas, and eventually form carbonated water. The salt contained in it will increase the burden on the stomach and cause swollen feet if pregnant women consume too much. Sparkling water is pure carbonated water and does not contain any added ingredients. Pregnant women can drink it safely as long as they pay attention to usage and dosage.
