What to do if your child has eczema during breastfeeding

Many women are very concerned about breastfeeding right after giving birth. However, because babies’ body immunity is different, some babies have more sensitive skin during breastfeeding and are prone to eczema problems. In this case, we must first understand the causes of eczema so that we can solve the problem fundamentally and treat eczema. So what should you do if your child develops eczema during breastfeeding?

1. When a child has eczema, the first thing to do is to find the cause, isolate the allergens, avoid further contact, abstain from alcohol and allergenic, spicy and irritating foods, avoid excessive fatigue and mental stress, pay attention to skin hygiene, do not use hot water to wash the skin, and do not use irritating antipruritic drugs externally. Actively treat systemic diseases. For treatment, Western medicine is mainly used to relieve itching and allergies, and antihistamines and calcium supplements can be used as options. Traditional Chinese medicine mainly focuses on clearing away heat and dampness, dispelling wind and clearing heat, nourishing blood, dispelling wind and moistening dryness.

2. Baby eczema may be caused by genetic factors or external factors. If one of the parents has ever suffered from an allergic disease or has had eczema, then the baby is very likely to have eczema, so investigate your own and your husband's medical history. If your baby is allergic to a certain food or environmental factor, you should try to avoid exposing him to substances that may cause allergies.

3. It should be noted that the baby's skin should be kept clean and fresh. When bathing the baby, warm water and non-alkaline bath agent should be used to clean the baby's body, and the bath agent must be rinsed off. After washing, wipe the water off the baby's body and apply non-oily moisturizer to avoid hindering the normal breathing of the skin. The baby's hair should also be washed every day. If the baby suffers from seborrheic eczema, washing the head carefully can remove the scabs. If the scab becomes hard and sticks to the head, you can apply olive oil on the affected area first and then wash it after a while. After cleaning, you can apply some pediatric dehumidifying ointment to your baby. Keep your baby's nails short regularly to avoid itching and scratching. In addition, you should always pay attention to changes in temperature and humidity in your baby's surrounding environment.
