Can pregnant women use iodine?

For pregnant women, there are many issues to pay attention to when taking medication during pregnancy. Because if you are not careful, it will cause drug residues, affecting the normal development of the fetus, or even causing fetal malformations. But for some drugs, they can still be used. So, can pregnant women use iodine? In fact, iodine tincture does not have much effect on pregnant women and fetuses.

Pregnant women can apply iodine to the local skin for disinfection and sterilization, which will not affect the fetus.

1. Applying iodine to the local skin of pregnant women will not affect the fetus, but it should be noted that the early pregnancy is a sensitive period for teratogens, which mainly occurs 15 to 60 days after fertilization. The embryo has a clear sensitive period to teratogens, and different teratogens have obvious specificity in the teratogenic type of the embryo. Almost all human organs are formed during this period, which undergoes important processes such as cell proliferation, migration, differentiation and physiological death. These processes are easily interfered by teratogens and cause deformities. Therefore, women must be cautious when taking medication during pregnancy.

2. Pregnant women should use iodine tincture with caution. After use, it needs to be deiodinated with alcohol. When using iodine tincture, you should also pay attention to the following points: Do not use iodine tincture on a large area to prevent iodine poisoning due to large-scale iodine absorption; Do not use it on ulcerated skin; It is forbidden for those who are allergic to iodine; Iodine tincture should not be applied at the same time as mercurochrome to avoid the production of mercuric iodide and skin corrosion; Iodine tincture should not be stored for too long. If iodine tincture is stored for too long, the content of free iodine will decrease, the bactericidal power will decrease, and the irritating products will increase, which will increase the irritation to the skin.

3. Not all medicines cannot be used during pregnancy. You can use medication under the guidance of a doctor. Pay attention to rest during pregnancy and keep a happy mood.
