Green stool in pregnant women

Green stool in pregnant women

Pregnant women will pay great attention to their physical conditioning in the early stages of pregnancy. If any problems arise, they will feel very nervous. The most common problem is that they feel their feces are green in color during defecation. In this case, they need to adjust their diet, which will help relieve the problem. They can eat some crude fiber foods.

Dietary fiber can accelerate intestinal peristalsis, promote the excretion of metabolic waste in the intestines, and relieve constipation during pregnancy. Foods rich in fiber include brown rice, whole-wheat products, various nuts, dried apricots, peas, raisins, leeks, celery, figs, etc.

Therefore, pregnant women must choose dietary fiber that they can accept to ensure normal digestion and absorption functions during pregnancy, which is beneficial to the growth and development of the fetus.

Eat foods rich in fiber: sweet potatoes, whole grains, and various green leafy vegetables;

Eat foods with a lot of residue: leeks, celery, kelp;

Eat foods rich in water: fruits rich in water such as pears;

Eat foods that promote intestinal peristalsis: honey, bananas, taro, apples;

Eat foods rich in organic acids: yogurt;

Eat foods containing fatty acids: pine nuts, black sesame seeds, melon seeds;

Eat foods containing vitamin B1: whole grain cereals;

Get up early in the morning and drink a glass of cold water.

1. Develop a habit of regular bowel movements

The urge to defecate is most likely to occur in the morning and after each meal. Therefore, after getting up, drink a glass of cold boiled water or honey water on an empty stomach, and then eat a good breakfast to promote the upright reflex and gastrocolic reflex after getting up. In this way, you will soon feel the urge to defecate, and if you persist for a long time, you will form a good habit of defecating in the morning. It is best to have a bowel movement when you wake up in the morning.

2. Go to the toilet as soon as you feel the urge

As soon as you feel the urge to defecate, you should go to the toilet immediately. Do not form a habit of holding back defecation, as this can easily lead to constipation. Stay relaxed when defecating, and don't be nervous even if you haven't defecated, otherwise constipation will become worse.

3. Eat more foods that promote bowel movements

Fruits, green leafy root vegetables, and cereals and potatoes rich in crude fiber, such as apples, bananas, pears, grapes, spinach, kelp, cucumber, celery, leeks, cabbage, sweet potatoes, corn, etc., can promote intestinal muscle peristalsis and soften feces, thereby playing a role in lubricating the intestines and helping pregnant women to defecate. Prunes contain a large amount of dietary fiber, which can effectively solve constipation during pregnancy and is safe and gentle for pregnant women.

4. Drink plenty of water

Pay attention to drinking water every day, but you must master the skills of drinking water, otherwise even if you drink water it may not have any effect. For example, drink water at a fixed time every day, in big gulps but not in a binge, so that the water can reach the colon as quickly as possible instead of being quickly absorbed into the blood by the intestines. This will make the stool softer and easier to excrete from the body.

5. Keep moving every day

In the late stages of pregnancy, many pregnant women often become lazy and inactive because their bodies gradually become heavy, so constipation is more obvious in the late stages of pregnancy. Moderate exercise can enhance the abdominal muscle contraction of pregnant women, promote intestinal peristalsis, and prevent or relieve constipation. Therefore, even when pregnant women are becoming increasingly heavy, they should do some exercise within their physical ability, such as walking, to increase the bowel movement.

6. Maintain a happy life

Don't let your body get too tired, get up early and go to bed early every day, get enough rest, and maintain a good mental state, all of which can help prevent constipation. When you are in a bad mood, listen to some music, read some books, etc. to divert your attention. Irritability can also cause constipation. Avoiding standing or sitting for long periods of time in daily life can also help prevent and treat constipation.
