Can I get pregnant during the safe period?

Generally, pregnancy will not occur during the safe period. Generally, no eggs are produced during the safe period, but there is a chance of conception, especially for women with menstrual disorders and irregular menstruation. Therefore, if you want to avoid pregnancy, you should take contraceptive measures. Female friends are not allowed to have sexual intercourse during menstruation, as it can easily lead to infection. In addition, the precautions for contraception during safe period should refer to the following content.

Will I get pregnant during the safe period?

Generally speaking, the chance of pregnancy during menstruation is smaller, but pregnancy is still possible. Also, during menstruation, women's body resistance is weaker and sexual intercourse can cause inflammation, so sexual intercourse during menstruation is not recommended. Therefore, it is recommended not to have sexual intercourse during menstruation. Experts believe that although it is unlikely that women will get pregnant if they have sex during their menstrual period, nothing is absolutely impossible for pregnancy. Since sperm can survive for up to a week after entering the female body, fertilization can be achieved once it encounters an egg. For some women, ovulation happens to occur during their menstrual period, so pregnancy is possible.

In addition, traditionally, the seven days before menstruation and the eight days after menstruation are the safe period for adult women, which is a calculation method used by most people for contraception. In addition to the calendar method that uses days to calculate, there are also the basal body temperature method and the secretion observation method. However, the safe period is not absolutely safe. Sometimes women ovulate earlier or later, and the judgment of the safe period becomes invalid at this time. Determining the safe period can only reduce the chance of pregnancy, but it cannot guarantee that you will not get pregnant during the safe period.

This method is more useful for women with regular menstruation. However, for women with irregular menstruation, this method is not advisable because they cannot accurately calculate the time of menstruation. They must pay attention to it.

Precautions for safe contraception

1. Not suitable for women with unstable cycles

For women with irregular cycles, short or long cycles, try not to use this method. Generally speaking, for a period shorter than 21 days and longer than 35 days, traditional contraceptive methods are more effective and will increase the chances of pregnancy.

2. Use with caution in breastfeeding women and women who have recently had an abortion

The body of a breastfeeding woman has not yet returned to normal. In addition to irregular menstrual cycles, the secretion of cervical mucus may not be reliable. Some breastfeeding mothers will secrete similar mucus, but it is not caused by ovulation or cervical mucus. It is just a natural phenomenon during breastfeeding, not egg production.

For women who have recently had a miscarriage, the menstrual cycle will not resume quickly, so they still need to adhere to traditional contraceptive methods and use this method of contraception under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Drugs can affect the success rate

Certain anti-inflammatory drugs, antipsychotic drugs, antibiotics and other drugs will have a certain impact on women's ovulation, causing ovulation to be advanced or delayed. If you have taken these drugs recently, do not choose safe period contraception, as the success rate will be greatly reduced.

4. Combination of three methods

If you want to successfully prevent pregnancy during the safe period, you can combine the calendar method, body temperature method, and uterine mucus method, and observe them simultaneously to infer the accurate safe period, which will have a higher success rate and ensure contraception.
