How to treat Trichomonas vaginitis?

Women may suffer from many types of gynecological diseases, including vaginitis. Because the causes of vaginitis are different, there are different classifications of vaginitis, including Trichomonas vaginitis. If the vagina is infected with Trichomonas, there will generally be an incubation period of several days, and then the disease will break out. The patient will then have symptoms such as increased secretions and vulvar itching. So how to treat this gynecological inflammation?

How to treat Trichomonas vaginitis?

Both systemic and local treatments can be used. Since vaginal trichomoniasis is often accompanied by trichomoniasis infection of the urinary system and can be hidden in the cervical glands, vaginal folds and lower urethra, it is not easy to completely eliminate it with simple local medication. It is easy to relapse after stopping the medication, making the disease difficult to heal for a long time. Therefore, systemic treatment should be the first choice, and a single dose is recommended. The patient is considered cured only after three consecutive menstrual periods with negative trichomoniasis tests. Sexual partners of patients with trichomoniasis must be treated at the same time.

Systemic treatment

(1) Take metronidazole orally, 0.2-0.4 g, 3 times a day. One course of treatment is 10 days. Use vaginal cleansing solution or 1:5000 silver nitrate to flush the urethra locally and retain an appropriate amount of solution for 3 to 5 minutes. Because the disease is prone to relapse after menstruation, it is best to have another course of treatment after the next menstruation to consolidate the therapeutic effect. During treatment with this drug, you should avoid drinking alcoholic beverages to avoid a disulfiram-like reaction. And pay attention to the side effects of the medicine.

(2) Nimazole: 250 mg each time, twice a day, for 6 days; or rinse the vagina with 1% lactic acid and vaginal cleansing solution and then use a gel disinfectant and insert it into the vagina, once a night for a total of 10 days.

(3) Flunidazole: 200 mg each time, 3 times a day, for 5 consecutive days.

(4) Cnidium monnieri: 30g Cnidium monnieri, 15g Coptis chinensis, 6g Wolfbane, 30g White moss peel, decocted in water, used for fumigation and washing of the vulva, twice a day.

(5) For daily cleaning of the private parts, use a pH 4 weakly acidic feminine care solution, which can maintain the "self-cleaning function" of the vagina and inhibit the infection of vaginal Trichomonas.

Topical treatments

1. To enhance the vagina's defense capabilities, flush the vulva and vagina with 0.5% lactic acid or acetic acid solution, or flush the vagina with pH 4 weakly acidic feminine care solution.

2. Use 200 mg of metronidazole or gel disinfectant and insert it into the posterior fornix of the vagina every night. A course of treatment is 7 to 10 days. The effect will be better if the vagina is cleaned with the above-mentioned weakly acidic feminine care solution before inserting the suppository.

Special treatment

1. Treatment of pregnant women: Since metronidazole is carcinogenic to rodents and mutagenic to bacteria, it should not be taken during the first 3 months of pregnancy. Instead, local treatment should be the main treatment, but the effect is not ideal. For patients who still have severe symptoms after the second trimester of pregnancy, a single dose of metronidazole 2.0g can be considered.

2. Treatment of sexual partners Sexual partners of patients with trichomoniasis should be treated at the same time, using the same method and dose.

Chinese medicine treatment

It is mainly used to clear heat, dry dampness and kill insects. Commonly used ingredients are 30g of Sophora flavescens, 15g of Phellodendron amurense, 30g of Poria cocos, and 30g of Dictamni peel. After decocting in water, they are used to wash the vulva and vagina. Then, 9g each of Cnidium monnieri and Sophora flavescens are made into suppositories and placed in the vagina. This method is applied once a day, and 10 times is a course of treatment.

prevention

Strengthen health education, carry out census and treatment, eliminate sources of infection, strictly implement management systems, prohibit patients from entering swimming pools, improve public health equipment, and ensure disinfection and isolation in medical institutions to prevent cross infection. For stubborn recurring cases, it is advisable to conduct a Trichomonas test on the male's urine or prostatic fluid so that treatment can be given at the same time to control recurrences.
