Is cervical hyperplasia serious?

Is cervical hyperplasia serious?

If the disease of cervical hyperplasia has not yet shown symptoms, no treatment is needed. In this case, just remember to go to the hospital for regular check-ups. If the condition worsens, you must choose treatment measures based on your specific physical condition. In fact, this situation is quite serious for some patients, so it is best not to take it too lightly.

The basic pathological changes of this disease are changes in smooth muscle cells and blood vessel walls in the myometrium.

(I) Gross findings: The uterus is uniformly enlarged, with myometrial hypertrophy reaching 2.5 to 3.2 cm. The cross section is grayish white or pink, with increased hardness, and the fiber bundles are arranged in a woven manner. There are vascular protrusions in the outer 1/3 of the muscular layer, and the intima is normal or thickened. Sometimes, small leiomyoma (less than 1 cm in diameter) or intima polyps can be seen.

(II) Microscopic examination: The images are inconsistent and have the following forms:

①Simple smooth muscle cell hypertrophy. Microscopic observation showed that it was the same as the normal myometrium, with no collagen fiber hyperplasia and no obvious changes in the vascular wall;

②Proliferation of collagen fibers in the myometrium, forming uterine fibrosis;

③ Changes in the blood vessel wall within the muscular layer: the arteries and veins are significantly dilated, and there are clusters of elastic fibers proliferating around the newly formed blood vessels.

Pathogenesis

(1) Chronic inflammation and long-term stimulation cause cervical congestion and edema, and hyperplasia of cervical glands and stroma. Cervical hypertrophy generally does not require treatment. Daily private part care should use a pH 4 weakly acidic feminine care solution, such as Jiaoyan feminine care solution. (2) Mucus retention may occur deep in the cervical glands, forming cysts of varying sizes. Sometimes it can be 2 to 4 times larger than a normal cervix, and the surface of the cervix can be smooth or eroded. The texture of the cervix is generally hard, which is caused by the hyperplasia of fibrous connective tissue.

The hospital's gynecology department will examine cervical secretions and provide symptomatic treatment based on the results. If necessary, a cervical TCT examination can be performed to rule out early cervical cancer. Simple cervical hypertrophy will not affect pregnancy, but severe cervicitis can cause endometritis, salpingo-oophoritis, fallopian tube adhesions and blockage, leading to infertility.

Generally speaking, the main clinical manifestation of cervical hyperplasia is increased vaginal discharge. In addition, because connective tissue hyperplasia and inflammation spread along the cervix or through the uterosacral ligament to the pelvic cavity, patients may also have symptoms of lumbar pain or perineal swelling, which are the two most prominent symptoms of cervical hyperplasia. When these two situations occur, the patient must go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.

Cervical hypertrophy is a common type of chronic cervicitis. Cervical hypertrophy is mainly caused by long-term stimulation of inflammation. Cervical hypertrophy is very harmful. When the condition is serious, it can lead to female infertility. Therefore, timely prevention of cervical hypertrophy can avoid the occurrence of infertility.
