Why is the gestational sac elongated?

Why is the gestational sac elongated?

The shape of the gestational sac in every woman's body is different. Because the gestational sac in the body develops very slowly, it may take on various shapes during the development process. If a woman shows two bars during a urine test, but no gestational sac is found during a B-ultrasound, it is likely that there is an ectopic pregnancy. So why is the gestational sac long and narrow?

1 Is it definitely a boy if the gestational sac is long and narrow?

There is a saying that if the gestational sac is long and rectangular, it will definitely be a boy, but this is not necessarily accurate.

Reason: This is a statement made by many people, and it is said to have some scientific basis, because sperm is long and eggs are round, and when combined together the probability of a round baby girl is higher. However, this statement needs to be verified.

Note: The gestational sac can appear long, oval, or other shapes in the early stages, which is related to the space in the uterus when the gestational sac develops. This shape has nothing to do with the gender of the child and cannot determine the gender of the baby.

2 Does a long gestational sac mean it's definitely a boy? Factors that affect the shape of the gestational sac

Generally, a well-developed gestational sac is round and flat, but sometimes the gestational sac will become longer as the uterine cavity changes shape. Its shape is related to tension and the amount of amniotic fluid it contains. Also, the detection direction of B-ultrasound is different, and the shape will be different when viewed from different angles.

Note: Do not blindly believe rumors to determine the gender of the fetus. The reason why some people are accurate is because the fetus is either a boy or a girl, and the guessing has a 50% accuracy rate. I hope mothers will let nature take its course regarding the gender of the fetus. Our country’s laws also prohibit the use of medical means to test the gender of the fetus.

3 Does a long gestational sac mean it's a boy? The shape of a normal gestational sac

Shape: It is normal for the gestational sac to be round, oval, and clear. The diameter of the gestational sac is about 2 cm at 6 weeks of pregnancy and about 5 cm at 10 weeks of pregnancy.

Position: It is normal for the gestational sac to be located at the fundus, front wall, back wall, upper part, or middle part of the uterus.

Note: If the gestational sac is irregular in shape, blurred, and located in the lower part, and the pregnant woman also has abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding, she may have a miscarriage.

4 Does a long gestational sac mean it's a boy? B-ultrasound can tell when the gestational sac is

Generally speaking, after 5 weeks of pregnancy, a small gestational sac can be seen on B-ultrasound, which occupies less than 1/4 of the uterine cavity, or a fetal bud can be seen. If it is a normal intrauterine pregnancy, the gestational sac can be seen in the uterus through B-ultrasound around 40 days of pregnancy. However, due to individual differences in the time of conception, some pregnant women may not be able to see it until around 45 days.

Note: Usually, when HCG reaches 1000U/L, vaginal ultrasound should be able to identify the intrauterine gestational sac. This is around the 4th or 5th day of the 5th week of pregnancy. When HCG reaches 6500U/L, abdominal ultrasound can identify the intrauterine gestational sac. Therefore, vaginal ultrasound will be more accurate. If the intrauterine gestational sac is not seen on the 49th day of pregnancy during a normal menstrual cycle, ectopic pregnancy should be suspected.
