Where is the hymen? These physiological knowledge are best understood

Many people know that there is a thin membrane in the female vagina, which is called the hymen in physiology. The hymen is at the vaginal opening instead of inside the vagina. There is a small hole in the middle of the hymen, and the shapes of the hole come in many shapes. Let's learn about these important physiological knowledge below.

1. Hymen, where are you?

The hymen is a circular, semi-closed membrane fold at the vaginal opening rather than inside the vagina, which contains connective tissue, blood vessels and nerve endings. There is a hole in the center of the hymen, and the shape of the hole can be half-moon, round, oval, sieve-shaped, etc. Its thickness is about 2 mm. The hymen is the channel for menstrual blood to be discharged during puberty. After sexual intercourse begins, the penis also enters the vagina. The hymen can only be observed when the vulva is exposed.

2. Will there be bleeding during the first night?

In fact, scientific research has long confirmed that not everyone will bleed during their first night. A survey showed that 29.7% of the women participating in the survey did not bleed. Some people don't come out the first time, but come out later. Some people only do it once, while many others do it twice or three times. Among women who have not had sex for a long time after their first sexual intercourse, 5% still bleed when they have sexual intercourse again. As you can imagine, there is no scientific basis for judging whether a woman is a virgin based on bleeding during the first night.

3. Why is there no bleeding even though it is the first night?

This has to do with the toughness of the hymen. Some women have a thin hymen with poor toughness, which may be ruptured due to strenuous exercise such as running, jumping, and trauma. A hymen with good toughness will not necessarily rupture even if there is a history of sexual intercourse, but will remain intact.

In addition, nowadays most girls' virginity occurs after sexual maturity. Estrogen levels rise rapidly, a hole appears in the middle of the prevaginal membrane, and the prevaginal membrane begins to become thicker and less easily torn. Even if the penis enters, the hymen may not rupture.

Moreover, even for women who have had sex, it is very likely that their hymen is still there, because the vagina is mature and strong. Even if an instrument passes through the vagina, it will only be pulled, turned back, and restored. Just like your face, if you pinch it normally, it will recover after you let go. It won't break if you pinch it casually.
