Can I get pregnant if I have vaginal inflammation?

Older women have more or less some gynecological problems, and gynecological inflammation can be said to be the most common gynecological problem in women. Most of the time, gynecological inflammation is caused by unclean sexual behavior or not paying attention to genital hygiene. Vaginitis is caused by gynecological inflammation, and the treatment of vaginitis is relatively complicated. But can women with vaginitis get pregnant?

Can I get pregnant if I have gynecological inflammation?

If you have gynecological inflammation, it is recommended to treat it before planning pregnancy. Common gynecological inflammation can cause increased vaginal secretions, which in turn affects the sperm's ability to penetrate the ovum, making it impossible for the sperm to meet the egg normally, reducing the probability of conception. If inflammation is not treated in time before pregnancy, the accelerated metabolism of the human body after pregnancy may directly lead to worsening of inflammation and bring some complications, and the immune function and endocrine system of the pregnant woman will be damaged. Once intrauterine infection, birth canal infection and other factors affect the fetus, it may cause more serious consequences such as miscarriage, premature birth, congenital malformations, and mental retardation.

Most cases of vaginitis are easily cured, and it is recommended to plan pregnancy after treatment, especially for women with increased vaginal discharge caused by genital mycoplasma and chlamydia infections. However, for persistent mycoplasma carriers, pregnancy can also be relaxed. HPV is human papillomavirus, and it is currently believed that infection with this virus is related to the occurrence of cervical cancer. But it does not mean that people infected with HPV will definitely develop cervical cancer. Most transient infections in young women can be cleared on their own, but persistent infections should be taken seriously. If the test result of a woman who is preparing to become pregnant is positive, it is recommended that she undergo a cervical liquid-based cytology (TCT) test. If it is still positive, a colposcopy should be performed to rule out cervical lesions and postpone pregnancy appropriately. If the result is negative, you can get pregnant normally and recheck for HPV after 6 months.

Is gynecological inflammation contagious?

Some gynecological inflammations are contagious, such as bacterial vaginitis, Trichomonas vaginitis, etc. Sexual activity and indirect contact are common routes of transmission of gynecological inflammation:

1. Sexual transmission: The female vulva and genital mucosa are important organs involved in sexual activities. Sexual intercourse often causes damage or cross-infection to local tissues. Unhygienic sexual behavior, excessive frequency of sexual intercourse, or the sexual partner himself suffering from an infectious disease related to sexually transmitted diseases can easily cause gynecological inflammation.

2. Indirect contact transmission: Contact with infected toilets, bathtubs, bath seats, towels in public places, or using unclean toilet paper and menstrual pads can cause gynecological inflammation.

Experts remind that to avoid gynecological inflammation infection, you should pay attention to the following points:

1. Sexual intercourse is prohibited during treatment, or condoms should be used to prevent cross infection. Vaginal medication and sitz baths should be avoided during menstruation. Patients with recurrent episodes should be treated together as a couple.

2. Pay attention to personal hygiene and keep the vulva clean and dry; wash and change underwear frequently, do not share bath towels or bathtubs with others, do not wear underwear made of nylon or similar fabrics, and bath towels and underwear used during illness should be boiled and disinfected.
