What medicine should pregnant women use if they are scratched?

If a pregnant woman is accidentally injured, she must carefully treat the wound, because when the skin is wounded, it is particularly easy for a large number of bacteria to appear. These bacteria are likely to cause tetanus in pregnant women. When taking medicine, you should also pay attention to using some smear medicines, try not to use oral medicines, and do not touch cold medicines. So what medicine is effective for pregnant women to apply when they are scratched?

Generally speaking, traumatic wounds are usually contaminated with a large number of bacteria, especially when the damaged epidermis loses its protection, bacteria are more likely to proliferate into the deep soft tissues and cause deeper infections; therefore, once there is a trauma, wound care must be done immediately, and the doctor must assess the wound and prescribe relevant medication for treatment.

Basically, it is not recommended for pregnant women to take unnecessary oral medications excessively, but if the condition requires, the doctor will prescribe oral medications for pregnant women. The pregnant woman mentioned above had to add oral antibiotics because the topical ointment could no longer control the infection. In order to avoid ineffective treatment or the development of drug resistance, medication must be taken according to the doctor's instructions and should not be stopped on your own.

For example, some types of antibiotics can affect DNA synthesis, so they cannot be used in breastfeeding or pregnant women. They should also be avoided in minors under the age of 16. In obstetrics and gynecology clinical practice, they are mainly suitable for the treatment of postpartum non-breastfeeding women. When pregnant patients use antibiotics, they need to consider the possible effects of the drugs on pregnant women and fetuses, and avoid using drugs such as tetracyclines and quinolones that have significant toxic or teratogenic effects on the fetus. At the same time, vancomycin and aminoglycoside antibiotics also have obvious toxic effects on pregnant women and fetuses, so they need to be avoided as much as possible.

When the pregnant woman sought medical treatment, the wound had not yet healed and there was still some secretion. At the same time, the wound was red, swollen and hot, and there was pain when pressing. She was diagnosed with a skin and soft tissue infection. So oral antibiotics and topical antibiotic ointment were prescribed for treatment; when I returned for a follow-up check-up one week later, the redness and swelling had subsided, the wound had dried up and was pain-free, leaving only slightly reddish new skin and post-inflammatory pigmentation.

It should be noted that pregnant women are prohibited from purchasing oral medications on their own, but they can let their obstetricians know their physical condition, including medication use, and can discuss any concerns with their doctors at any time. Any minor abrasions should not be taken lightly, especially for pregnant women in the later stages of pregnancy, who may be prone to unstable center of gravity and may increase the risk of falling, so they should be more careful; any wounds should be treated early and not ignored just because they are small, so as to avoid more serious infection problems later.

In addition, antibiotics are often needed after gynecological and obstetric surgery to prevent surgical infection, especially the following indications require the use of antibiotics. The first option is cesarean section, because the incision is large and the surgical site is located in the uterus. Secondly, vaginal or hysterectomy requires the use of antibiotics. The purpose of using antibiotics in gynecological surgery is to prevent bacterial infection. Penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics are more suitable.
