Artificial conception, also known as artificial insemination, is a method of assisted reproduction. It is mainly aimed at some older pregnant women and people who cannot conceive naturally. It includes two methods: artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization. It is a common method for treating infertility and can help couples realize their wish of becoming parents. Let us now understand the process of artificial insemination and take a look at the content in this regard. Is artificial insemination painful? How to do it? 1. Confirm whether the conditions for artificial conception are met: Artificial insemination can only be considered if a couple has had sexual intercourse but has not been able to conceive naturally after 2 years. Artificial insemination is mainly suitable for male infertility. 2. Physical examination: Female endocrine function examination, B-ultrasound examination, hysteroscopy, examination of infectious diseases, etc. 3. Ovulation monitoring: Ovulation is monitored by methods such as B-ultrasound detection of follicle development. Commonly used methods for estimating the ovulation date include measuring basal body temperature, cervical mucus (usually appears 4-5 days before ovulation), or continuously measuring the peak level of urinary luteinizing hormone close to the ovulation day, or continuous vaginal ultrasound examinations. If necessary, ovulation can be promoted through auxiliary methods such as ovulation injections and ovulation pills. 4. Perform surgery : During the woman's ovulation period, sperm is injected into the uterine cavity through a catheter via a hysteroscope. Before the woman's estimated ovulation period, the sperm donor or the husband masturbates to extract semen, which needs to be tested. If the results show that the semen density and activity are normal, wait for the semen to liquefy and then use a syringe or catheter to inject the semen into the vagina, around the cervix and into the cervical canal. The woman should rest in bed for 2-3 hours to prevent semen from being discharged. 5. Review: If you feel severe physical discomfort after artificial insemination, you need to go to the hospital for a follow-up examination. Alternatively, if conception is normal after artificial insemination, which usually takes 7 days, you can go to the hospital 7 days later to check whether conception has been successful. It should be noted that each woman can undergo artificial insemination three times in a menstrual cycle, starting three days before ovulation. If calculated by hours, it would be performed once 72 hours, 24 hours before ovulation, and 24 hours after ovulation. If conception fails in one menstrual cycle, several cycles can be performed in succession. If necessary, drugs can be used to induce ovulation and adjust the ovulation period to increase the pregnancy rate. The success or failure of artificial insemination is generally determined by 12 cycles. |
