How to remedy electric shock for pregnant women

Nowadays, most pregnant women seldom touch electrical appliances, but sometimes they suddenly need to use a computer at home, or need to use electrical appliances to organize some things. At this time, everyone will touch electrical appliances. Pregnant women with big bellies are inconvenient and prone to losing balance and standing steadily. They may get electric shocks accidentally. Pregnant women may faint instantly when they get electric shocks, or even cause more serious problems. What needs to be focused on is treatment and conditioning.

1. Turn off the main power if possible.

(1) If this is not possible, stand on an insulating surface such as a rubber rug or a pile of dry newspapers. Use two methods to remove the source. Use something dry, non-conductive, such as a wooden chair or wooden broom handle to move the wires away or move the child away.

(2) If there are no suitable items, wrap your hands with dry cloth or dry newspaper as much as possible, hold the child's clothes, and avoid touching the child's skin.

2. Check if your child is conscious

(1) If the person is unconscious, check his/her breathing and perform artificial respiration if necessary. If breathing, place the child in the recovery position.

(2) If conscious, comfort and reassure the child. Check for various symptoms caused by electric shock.

(3) Check the burn condition: Check the two parts of the body that touch the power source and the ground. The burn may look red or charred and may also be swollen. Regardless of these symptoms, it should be treated as a serious burn.

Electric current can cause burns both where it enters the body and where it leaves the body, so most electrical burns in children occur where the body touches the power source and the ground. Although these burns appear small, the wounds are deep.

If a child has any of the following conditions, he or she should be sent to the hospital immediately after first aid treatment:

(1) Delirium (loss of consciousness), even if it lasts only for a few seconds, is an emergency.

(2) Any electrical burns.

The burn wound caused by low-voltage electric current is small, with regular edges and clear boundaries with healthy skin. The wound surface is burnt yellow or brown-black in color and can reach deep into the subcutaneous fat layer, most often seen on the arms and feet. Burns caused by high voltage electricity or lightning strikes are larger in area and deeper in wounds, and sometimes electric burn marks or lightning lines can be seen.

If the electric shock time is short, there will only be a short period of dizziness, palpitations or mild nausea. Although the condition is relatively mild at this time, you still need to go to the hospital for examination. The doctor will perform an electrocardiogram. Sometimes nodular rhythm or premature contractions occur, which are caused by the strong stimulation of the electric current on the cardiac conduction system.

Mild premature contractions can often recover quickly after observation and treatment. However, it must be noted that frequent premature ventricular contractions can turn into ventricular tachycardia. If not treated promptly, it can turn into ventricular fibrillation and lead to death. This process is the manifestation of electric shock injuries from mild to severe, and must be treated in a timely manner. If the electric shock lasts for a long time. The amount of current flowing through the body is large, which will inevitably aggravate the damage to the body. The sick child may be in a coma, with a rapid drop in blood pressure, rapid and shallow breathing, and even cessation of breathing. Irregular heart rhythm, even ventricular fibrillation and cardiac arrest. If this happens, mouth-to-mouth artificial respiration and external cardiac massage should be performed, and the patient should be sent to the hospital immediately for emergency treatment.

Preventing children from electric shock is the most important thing. Children should be educated not to play with electrical appliances, especially not to touch power sources and electrical appliances with wet hands. It is safer to use pull-cord switches indoors. Regularly check whether electrical devices and leakage switches are functioning normally. Do not approach areas where wires are broken, and repair them promptly. Avoid taking shelter under large trees during a thunderstorm.
