How big is the uterus at 10 weeks of pregnancy

Pregnancy is a happy but arduous process because the fetus will gradually grow during pregnancy, and it takes several months to develop from a tiny embryo to a complete body form. As the fetus grows, the uterus that accommodates its growth will also be expanded. Monitoring the changes in the size of the uterus also plays an important role in the development of the fetus. Let’s take a look at how big the uterus is at 10 weeks of pregnancy.

How big is the uterus at 10 weeks of pregnancy

In the early stages of pregnancy, the fetus is still in a smaller stage, and the body and internal organs are quite elastic, so expectant mothers in the early stages of pregnancy will not feel too much change. However, as the fetus grows in the later stages, the position of the internal organs will be squeezed accordingly. As the baby grows, the mother's intestines, stomach, bladder and spine change greatly. In particular, the uterus can change from the size of a fist to the size of a watermelon as the fetus develops.

Changes in the uterus during pregnancy

1. 4 weeks of pregnancy: In the first month of pregnancy, the size and shape of the expectant mother's uterus have basically not changed compared to before pregnancy. But the uterine wall begins to become soft and thickened, looking about the size of an egg.

2. 8 weeks of pregnancy: As the gestational age increases, the expectant mother's uterine wall gradually softens and the cervix thickens to protect the uterus.

3. 12 weeks of pregnancy: At 3 months of pregnancy, the expectant mother's uterus looks like a grapefruit. The uterus gradually increases in size as the fetus grows. The fundus of the uterus can be touched above the pubic symphysis. The enlarged uterus begins to compress the bladder and rectum in the front and back, reducing bladder capacity and causing frequent urination.

4. 16 weeks of pregnancy: When entering the fourth month of pregnancy, the growth rate of the fetus accelerates, the uterus begins to grow and grow out of the pelvis, and the ligaments around the uterus change from their original relaxed state to a tense state.

5. 20 weeks of pregnancy: After 5 months of pregnancy, the expectant mother's uterus is getting bigger and bigger, pushing the abdomen outward, causing the belly to bulge outward. The expectant mother can easily feel her uterus about 1.8 cm below the navel. By the sixth month of pregnancy, the uterus is now about 8 cm above the navel.
