Can I sleep on my side after giving birth?

We all know that the damage to women's bodies after giving birth is very great, so women need to take a confinement period to recuperate their bodies. Moreover, during the confinement period, not only do you need to take some nutritional supplements every day, but you can't do activities such as blowing your hair or taking a bath. Even your sleeping position needs to be fixed to help your body recover. So, can you sleep on your side after a normal birth?

In the first few days after delivery, you can lie on your right side to promote the outflow of blood from the episiotomy wound and prevent the accumulation of blood and the formation of hematoma, which affects wound healing. It can also prevent endometrial fragments in the lochia from flowing into the wound and forming endometriosis in the future; after 4-5 days, the wound will grow more firmly and the lochia will be difficult to leak out, which will promote the outflow of blood stasis in the episiotomy wound and prevent blood stasis from accumulating and forming hematoma, affecting wound healing. It can also prevent endometrial fragments in the lochia from flowing into the wound and forming endometriosis in the future. Only after 4-5 days when the wound has grown firmer and lochia is difficult to flow into, can you adopt a left-right alternating lying position.

You can sleep any way you want after a normal birth. When you have a baby, sleeping on your left side is best for the baby, but when you don't have a baby, sleeping on your right side is best for your heart. You can feel much more relaxed after giving birth. Don't worry about what sleeping position you choose. Just rest in bed more.

I started sleeping on my side after I was discharged from the hospital. Which side is better depends on what you feel comfortable with. Just sleep however you feel comfortable. There is no absolute requirement for sleeping position.

You can sleep on your side right after giving birth. But note that the sleeping positions should be changed alternately, such as left side, right side, and supine position. Because a single posture can cause changes in the position of the uterus. And you should do moderate activities to promote the discharge of lochia, so that your body will recover faster.

Generally, there are no special restrictions on sleeping positions after a normal delivery. Just do whatever is comfortable for you. For example, I had an episiotomy and a laceration during delivery, so I always sleep on the side without the episiotomy, which is more comfortable that way. As long as you adopt a comfortable sleeping position, don't sleep on your stomach, and don't squeeze your breasts, it's fine. In addition, pay attention to getting out of bed and walking around appropriately.
