Yellow vaginal discharge after childbirth

Yellow vaginal discharge after childbirth

Many women's hormones and endocrine system do not return to normal after giving birth, or they are infected by the outside world, which can easily lead to symptoms of yellow leucorrhea. Yellow leucorrhea after giving birth may be a manifestation of a gynecological disease. This may be a manifestation of vaginitis or pelvic inflammatory disease. A detailed examination can be done to make a judgment, and more attention should be paid to hygiene in daily life.

Why does the leucorrhea turn yellow after giving birth?

Generally, leucorrhea is white.

Like menstruation, leucorrhea is also a barometer of women's health. If the leucorrhea is abnormal, increases in amount, or changes in shape, odor, or color compared to usual, it is very likely that a woman has some gynecological disease. Therefore, everyone should pay attention to identifying and discovering abnormal leucorrhea, and always maintain their own safety and health.

What is normal vaginal discharge?

Normal leucorrhea should be milky white or colorless and transparent, with a slightly fishy smell or no smell. It is a mixture of vaginal mucosal exudate, cervical glands and endometrial gland secretions, and contains vaginal epithelial exfoliated cells, white blood cells and some non-pathogenic bacteria.

Large amounts of egg white-like, stringy vaginal discharge

During ovulation, the amount of leucorrhea will increase, become transparent, egg white-like, and stringy. The vulva will often feel moist, and there will be some traces of secretions on the underwear.

White yellowish sticky vaginal discharge

After the ovulation period, the luteal phase begins. The secretion of leucorrhea decreases and begins to become viscous. Since it is mixed with a large number of exfoliated cells, the color becomes white or even a little yellow.

Other leucorrhea manifestations

The amount of leucorrhea will increase during pregnancy; during the honeymoon period, frequent sexual impulses and sexual contact will also cause the amount of leucorrhea to increase; after menopause, the secretion of leucorrhea will decrease or even disappear.

Abnormal leucorrhea symptoms

Yellow watery vaginal discharge

It often occurs after continuous vaginal bleeding, with a large amount of purulent and foul-smelling leucorrhea flowing out of the vagina. Advanced cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, or submucosal myoma with infection should be considered first. Those with paroxysmal discharge should be aware of the possibility of fallopian tube cancer.

Purulent leucorrhea

It is yellow or yellow-green in color, sticky or foamy, and has a foul odor. It is mostly caused by vaginal inflammation, among which Trichomonas vaginitis is the most common, and is often accompanied by vulvar itching. It can also be seen in chronic cervicitis, senile vaginitis, endometritis, mesometrial effusion or foreign bodies in the vagina.

Cheese-like or tofu-like vaginal discharge

Most of them are typical phenomena of candidal vaginitis, often accompanied by severe vulvar itching.

Bloody leucorrhea

If there is blood in the leucorrhea, you should be alert to the possibility of malignant tumors such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer.

However, benign lesions such as cervical polyps, cervical erosion, submucosal myoma, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, urethral caruncle, senile vaginitis, etc. can also cause bloody leucorrhea, and a small amount of blood caused by intrauterine contraceptive device.

Urinary dysfunction with increased vaginal discharge

In typical gonococcal infection, the leucorrhea is like the urethral secretion, with increased amount, yellow purulent, and showing intense inflammatory reaction. The leucorrhea caused by chlamydia in cervicitis is less viscous and has an increase in white serous cervical secretions.

Can I still have sex if I have gynecological diseases?

Women should not have sexual intercourse under certain special circumstances.

Genital tumors

Certain genital tumors, especially malignant tumors such as uterine cancer and vulvar cancer, require cessation of sexual intercourse. Otherwise, sexual intercourse can easily increase the chance of tumor spread and cause bleeding.
