Does pregnancy start from the time menstruation stops?

New mothers don’t know how to calculate their due date by themselves, so they always need to ask people around them. However, they feel very distressed because people around them can’t give them good advice. In fact, pregnancy is calculated from the end of menstruation, and your due date should be calculated based on the duration of pregnancy. Here are some simple calculation rules for you, so that you can better plan your due date.

Last menstrual period calculation method

Medicine has established a method to calculate the time of pregnancy based on the last menstrual period. That is: the pregnancy time is calculated from the first day of the last menstrual period. The whole pregnancy time is 280 days, which can be simply recorded as 10 gestation months (40 weeks of pregnancy). The specific operation of the last menstrual period calculation method is: add 9 or subtract 3 to the month of the last menstrual period, and add 7 to the day. For example: the last menstrual period was 2000.7.1, so the entire pregnancy cycle would be: 2001.4.8.

Fetal movement calculation method

Many women have irregular menstrual cycles, so the last menstrual period method cannot be used to calculate the time of pregnancy. So how do we calculate it at this time? In fact, the date of fetal movement can also be used to calculate the time of pregnancy. Generally, fetal movement begins in the early 18-20 weeks of pregnancy. Therefore, the pregnancy time is calculated by fetal movement: for primiparas, push back 20 weeks from the date of fetal movement, and for multiparas, push back 22 weeks to get the entire pregnancy time.

So what is a pregnancy cycle?

The gestational age is the period from conception to birth. Pregnancy is the presence of one or more fetuses or embryos in a female mammal. Human pregnancy is the best studied of all mammals.

Since it is difficult for every pregnant woman to accurately determine the time of conception, the expected date of delivery is calculated from the first day of the last menstrual period. The entire pregnancy period is 280 days, 10 gestation months, and each gestation month is 28 days.

Pregnant women gave birth between 38 and 42 weeks of gestation, all of which were full-term. Since the length of each woman's menstrual cycle is different, it is normal for the estimated due date to differ from the actual due date by 1-2 weeks.

For women who are pregnant for the first time, a series of changes will occur both physically and psychologically. Because it is the first time, pregnant women themselves are often unaware of it. If they had no plans to have children, or do not understand their body's reactions at all, they may accidentally take medicine or neglect the details of life, which may have adverse effects on the fetus and mother.

In terms of physical reactions, there may be cold-like symptoms in the early stages of pregnancy. If you buy medicine indiscriminately, not only will it fail to achieve the therapeutic effect, you may even give birth to a deformed baby! Therefore, do not take medicine arbitrarily under any circumstances; the safest way is to see a doctor and find out the cause of the disease.

If you feel unwell, do not force yourself to do strenuous exercise or travel far at this time to avoid accidental miscarriage. In addition, if necessary, do not do X-rays at will, but check your physical condition first to determine whether you are pregnant.
