Gingival hyperplasia during pregnancy

Gingival hyperplasia during pregnancy

Gingival hyperplasia is an oral disease that causes toothache in patients. Therefore, in order to avoid suffering from the disease, timely treatment is necessary. However, for pregnant women, they cannot take many medicines after being sick. Moreover, surgical resection is generally required for the treatment of gingival hyperplasia, which requires anesthesia and will cause harm to the fetus. So what should pregnant women do with gingival hyperplasia?

It could be epulis gestationis, a gum disease unique to pregnant women that can now be treated. More importantly, it is important to actively treat the disease after giving birth, and not wait until the next pregnancy to reoccur or worsen. During this period, the main focus is on controlling inflammation and alleviating symptoms. You can go to the hospital's dental department to buy mouthwash and rinse your mouth frequently, which can effectively alleviate your symptoms.

Gingivitis is mostly caused by hard food or picking teeth, and periodontitis is mostly caused by caries. It is best not to use medication during pregnancy if possible. Strengthen oral care, do not eat hard food to avoid excessive friction on the gums and aggravate local symptoms, and do not eat spicy or other irritating foods. Wait until the perinatal period is over before treating according to symptoms.

How to prevent and treat gingival aneurysm: Prevention should be the focus for gingival aneurysm. During pregnancy, you should brush your teeth every morning and evening and rinse your mouth after meals. After brushing your teeth, it is best to massage your gums with clean fingers to promote blood circulation. The massage method is: massage the lower gum upwards and the upper gum downwards. The movements should be gentle, and massage for 3 to 5 minutes each time. Pregnant women with removable dentures in their mouths can temporarily stop wearing them for a period of time. Women with a lot of tartar should go to the hospital for periodontal treatment before or in the early stages of pregnancy, because the stimulation of dentures and tartar on the gums can induce gingival tumors.

During pregnancy, you should pay attention to a comprehensive and reasonable nutrition. In addition to meat and eggs, you should also eat more vegetables and fruits, and take appropriate calcium supplements. This will not only prevent gingival tumors, but also be very beneficial to the fetus's dental and bone development. Gingival tumors will gradually shrink after delivery, but they will not completely disappear until the local irritant is removed. If the gingival tumor is too large and interferes with eating, it should be surgically removed, preferably during the 4th to 6th month of pregnancy and not before delivery.
