Abnormal vaginal discharge after menopause

Abnormal vaginal discharge after menopause

When women reach their 40s or 50s, most of them start to enter menopause. The most obvious manifestation of menopause is menopause. After women enter menopause, they will age rapidly. Because of this, their leucorrhea may also be affected. Menopause is not something that can be completely eliminated in one go. So what should we do if leucorrhea is abnormal after menopause?

Menstruation and leucorrhea are both physiological characteristics of women, but when women reach a certain age, they will experience menopause. Menopause marks the entry of women into old age, and the overall condition of the body will change with the arrival of menopause. So is there still leucorrhea after menopause? Generally speaking, after women enter menopause, due to the decrease in sex hormone levels in the body, vaginal secretions usually decrease and lubrication decreases.

Women's leucorrhea will decrease or disappear after menopause. If leucorrhea increases after menopause, it will be sticky, odorless, light yellow in color, or contain blood. It should be taken seriously, because women will have many diseases after menopause, so you should be more careful at this time. So what are the reasons for increased leucorrhea after menopause?

1. Senile vaginitis: After menopause, the vaginal mucosa will become thinner, and its ability to resist infection and friction will decrease, making it very susceptible to infection with bacteria. Increased leucorrhea, local itching and burning sensation, and even local tenderness often indicate senile vaginitis.

2. Drug factors: With the improvement of living standards, the tonics used by the elderly are gradually increasing. Many longevity and nutritional medicines contain hormone components. Tonic Chinese medicines often contain a large amount of extrarenal drugs, all of which can cause an increase in leucorrhea. Many elderly people should use lubricants in their local sexual life, and drugs can cause local mucosal hyperplasia and an increase in leucorrhea. If the increase is not too large, it will disappear quickly after stopping the medication. In short, the increase in vaginal discharge after menopause is mostly related to too little or too much sex hormones.

3. Abnormal estrogen in the body: After menopause, the vaginal mucosa proliferates and leucorrhea appears like that during the childbearing age, which often indicates the presence of estrogen in the body.

4. Gynecological tumors: When symptomatic treatment is ineffective for watery, bloody, or purulent leucorrhea, gynecological tumors should be considered. Gynecological examination can directly understand the condition of the vagina and cervix. If necessary, scraping, suction, and cervical biopsy can be performed to assist in diagnosis.
