Breast discharge during pregnancy

Breast discharge in mid-pregnancy may be a normal physiological phenomenon, or it may be caused by pathological factors. You need to go to the hospital for further examination in time and then receive treatment based on the cause of the disease.

1. Normal physiological phenomenon: In the second half of pregnancy, the levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body will increase, and prolactin will also increase, which may stimulate the breast tissue, resulting in nipple discharge, which is generally manifested as breast water. It is usually a normal physiological phenomenon and generally does not require special treatment. You can wash the nipples with warm water every day to reduce inflammation and infection.

2. Pathological factors: In the middle of pregnancy, the hormone level and prolactin in the body will increase significantly, which will affect the growth and development of the breast and the lactation function. It may cause hyperplasia of breast tissue, thereby causing breast hyperplasia, which is generally manifested as breast pain, breast nodules or lumps. Some patients may also have symptoms of nipple discharge, and may also manifest as breast water. If the breast hyperplasia is relatively mild, generally no special treatment is required, and it can be improved through psychological counseling and lifestyle changes. However, if the breast hyperplasia is more serious, it can be treated by local surgical resection after delivery.
