What causes high urine sugar during pregnancy?

Nowadays, the most common problem for many pregnant women during pregnancy is gestational diabetes. There are many types of gestational diabetes, the more common ones are combined, severe or complicated. Regarding high urine sugar during pregnancy, it is necessary to eat small meals frequently, plus adjust the diet and life to achieve the effect of recovery. Pay attention to multiple adjustment methods as much as possible.

1. Diabetes is diagnosed before pregnancy.

2. Before pregnancy, the patient had asymptomatic diabetes, which developed into symptomatic diabetes after pregnancy.

3. Those who did not have diabetes before pregnancy, but developed diabetes after pregnancy and recovered after delivery.

In most women with gestational diabetes, glucose tolerance returns to normal after delivery. However, some patients have persistent hyperglycemia, diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance after delivery and may develop into diabetes.

The most obvious symptom of pregnancy complicated with diabetes is "three mores and one less", namely: eating more, drinking more, and urinating more, but also losing weight and accompanied by vomiting. Be careful not to confuse it with general pregnancy reactions. Vomiting during pregnancy with diabetes can become hyperemesis, which means severe nausea and vomiting, and may even cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. Another common symptom is fatigue and weakness, which is because the glucose eaten cannot be fully utilized and its metabolism is accelerated, so physical strength cannot be replenished.

Although they eat a lot of nutritious food, due to the lack of insulin in the body, the glucose in the food is not fully utilized and is excreted. Fat supplies heat energy, and the rate of protein conversion into glucose is greatly accelerated. As a result, a large amount of carbohydrates, proteins and fats are consumed in the body, resulting in poor physique and light weight.

Due to the abnormal acceleration of glucose metabolism, the glucose content in the blood and urine increases, and fungal infection is more likely to occur in early pregnancy with diabetes. Symptoms of diabetes may be alleviated during the second trimester of pregnancy. Delivery in late pregnancy, induced labor, and cesarean section can also easily lead to bacterial infection, further aggravating the symptoms of diabetes.

Why are some patients asymptomatic?

Some patients have a high renal glucose excretion threshold, and even if the blood sugar concentration is already very high, no glucose is excreted in the urine. Such patients appear more dangerous because they mask their symptoms.

Some patients lack knowledge about diabetes and mistakenly believe that eating and drinking more are normal body needs after pregnancy.

For some patients, the symptoms of diabetic complications are masked by other complications (such as high blood pressure, various infections, etc.).
