Is it necessary to use first-morning urine to test for early pregnancy?

Adult women who want to have a baby first need to find the ovulation period and enter the pregnancy preparation period. After the incubation period, they can test their urine every morning to test whether they have successfully become pregnant. When testing for early pregnancy, it is not necessary to use early morning urine, but it is recommended to choose morning urine, because the first urine in the morning can detect whether you are pregnant more quickly and accurately.

Ovulation test strips for early pregnancy

A normal adult woman will release an egg every month. The day of ovulation is called the ovulation day. The 5 days before and 4 days after ovulation, together with the ovulation day, a total of 10 days are called the ovulation period. It is easiest to get pregnant by having sex 2 days before or after ovulation. Couples who are planning to have a baby can choose this time period to "make a baby". There are many ways to calculate the ovulation day. Here we will introduce how to use ovulation test strips to find out your best day for conception.

What is the principle of ovulation test paper

To use the ovulation test strip correctly, you must first understand the principle of the ovulation test strip.

Ovulation test strips are tools that predict ovulation by detecting the peak level of luteinizing hormone (LH). Normal women maintain a small amount of luteinizing hormone in their bodies. In the middle of the menstrual cycle, the secretion of "luteinizing hormone" increases rapidly, forming a peak, and within the next 28 hours, it stimulates the release of a mature egg, that is, ovulation. Therefore, ovulation test strips can enable women to predict when is the best time to conceive or use contraception.

When two purple-red lines appear on the test paper, and the lower line (test line) is significantly lighter than the upper line (control line), it means that the LH level in the urine has not yet reached a peak and daily testing must be continued.

When two purple-red lines appear on the test paper, and the upper and lower lines (control line and test line) are basically the same color, or the lower line (test line) is darker than the upper line (control line), it means that you will ovulate within 24 to 48 hours.

When only one purple-red line (control line) appears on the test strip at the top, it indicates no ovulation.

Can ovulation test strips detect early pregnancy?

For convenience, some women use ovulation test strips to detect early pregnancy. Can this effectively detect early pregnancy results?

The accuracy of early pregnancy detection with ovulation test strips is low

In fact, ovulation test strips are used to detect ovulation. If you use ovulation test strips to detect early pregnancy, it has its limitations. Even if it can detect whether you are pregnant, the accuracy will be reduced, which can easily lead to missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis. Therefore, generally speaking, using ovulation test strips to detect early pregnancy may not be very accurate.

Generally speaking, we do not recommend using ovulation test strips to detect early pregnancy because its accuracy is very low. The principle of using ovulation test strips to test early pregnancy is that HCG has two chains, α and β. The structure of the α chain is basically similar to LH and fsh, and is prone to cross-reaction. Therefore, in medicine, β is generally used as the standard for judging whether pregnancy occurs.

Because HCG and LH cross, ovulation test strips sometimes also react to early pregnancy. So before the early pregnancy test paper, the ovulation test paper had already detected early pregnancy. In fact, ovulation test strips are not accurate in detecting early pregnancy. The absence of a weak positive result on the ovulation test strip does not mean that you are not pregnant, because cross-reaction is not inevitable. Therefore, although many women want to use ovulation test strips to detect early pregnancy, given its low accuracy, we do not recommend using ovulation test strips to detect early pregnancy.

If you want to test early pregnancy, you can use early pregnancy test strips. Early pregnancy test strips are used specifically to test whether you are pregnant and have relatively high accuracy. Generally, ovulation test strips are used to test whether you have ovulated in the middle of your period. Early pregnancy test strips are used to test whether you are pregnant after menstruation stops, so it’s best not to get them mixed up.
