How long does it take for the NT test to produce results?

In order to ensure that pregnant women can give birth to healthy and normal babies, pregnant mothers need a lot of examinations during pregnancy. Some of the examinations pregnant mothers may not even have heard of before, so they don’t know the principles and time of the examinations, how to interpret the results, etc., and are often confused. So, how long does it take for the NT test results to be reported?

The results are usually available on the same day. The Nt test is a simple and common method to check for fetal chromosomal abnormalities. It is performed between 11 and 13 weeks of pregnancy. The main principle is to observe the cervical translucency of pregnant women through B-ultrasound or B-ultrasound. The process is very simple and the inspection speed is relatively fast. The results can usually be obtained immediately or within 30 minutes, and pregnant mothers do not need to wait too long.

The smaller the result of the Nt test, the lower the risk of fetal abnormalities. The normal index value is 2.0mm, but in fact, unless the mother is older or high-risk, it is generally normal if it is below 3.0mm. If the baby's standard value is too high after the pregnant mother obtains the result, the doctor recommends further examination to confirm it. Minimally invasive or amniocentesis can be used for Down syndrome screening, which usually needs to be performed between the 16th and 22nd weeks of pregnancy.

Even if there may be something wrong with the baby, pregnant mothers do not need to be overly anxious and should maintain a calm mentality. An Nt value slightly higher than 2.0mm does not necessarily mean that the fetus is abnormal. It is also possible that the amniocentesis test is normal.

NT is an ultrasound index that is taken around the 12th week of pregnancy. It takes the sagittal position of the fetus through ultrasound to accurately measure the thickness of the skin folds behind the fetus's neck. It is a key early screening index to determine whether the fetus has any deformities. How long the NT examination takes depends mainly on whether the fetal position is appropriate. When doing NT, the fetus is usually required to take a sagittal position so that the thickness of the skin behind the fetus' neck can be accurately measured. If the fetus is in a suitable position, the measurement will be faster and the entire inspection process may take five to ten minutes. If the fetal position is not suitable, you need to shake the pregnant woman's abdomen or let her walk appropriately. In this case, it may take half an hour or even an hour to do it.
