Will cervical HPV positive 16 heal itself?

Gynecological diseases are a very serious problem for women because many women are prone to them. Therefore, we are quite concerned about the problems of cervical and uterine diseases. Because these diseases occur frequently and are complicated to treat, I have heard that some symptoms can heal themselves. Then this requires a comprehensive examination in the hospital. Will the cervical HPV positive 16 heal itself?

Getting the HPV vaccine can indeed effectively prevent viral infection and protect against cervical cancer. This method of blocking the occurrence of tumors from the cause is called "primary prevention" of tumors. Currently, only a few tumors can achieve primary prevention, and cervical cancer is one of them. Commercial cervical cancer vaccines have been marketed and used abroad, but are not yet available in China.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends vaccination for girls aged 9-13 years old; the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has a broader recommendation range, and vaccination can be given to girls aged 9-26 years old. Vaccination should be started earlier than the average age of sexual life, as this period is also the best time for the body's immune system to respond to the vaccine, but the age limit is not absolute.

Since the HPV vaccine has little effect on existing HPV infections, in theory vaccination before the start of sexual activity provides the greatest protection.

Most (80%) HPV infections are transient, and the virus will be cleared by the human immune system on its own. Therefore, it can be understood that most HPV infections can heal on their own. There is no evidence that traditional Chinese medicine is effective in treating HPV, and there is currently no effective drug to cure HPV.

Low-risk infections mainly cause various genital warts such as genital warts, which can be treated with minimally invasive techniques such as freezing and laser. For precancerous lesions caused by high-risk HPV infection, physical treatments such as laser and microwave can be used for low-grade lesions (such as CIN1); if they are high-grade lesions (including CIN2 and CIN3), loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) or cold knife cone biopsy (CKC) should be used for treatment.

Regardless of the treatment method, there will be a certain degree of damage. The surgical indications should be grasped to avoid inappropriate or excessive treatment. After local treatment, HPV may turn negative in some patients, but there is a possibility of becoming positive again. HPV testing can also be used as an indicator for monitoring the condition after treatment.
