Does having your period mean you are not pregnant?

Does having your period mean you are not pregnant?

There are many changes in a woman's body after she becomes pregnant, and women will feel them very obviously. There are many symptoms that can indicate that a woman is pregnant, the most obvious of which is that her menstruation will stop after she becomes pregnant. Therefore, many women think that as long as they have their period, they are definitely not pregnant. So, if you have your period, does that mean you are not pregnant?

Some women suddenly have less menstrual flow and fewer days, and the time difference is different from the past. They go to the hospital, and after the doctor diagnoses and takes a pregnancy test, they confirm that they are pregnant, but they don’t believe it at all, saying, “How can I be pregnant if I have my period?”

In fact, bleeding in early pregnancy is not necessarily menstruation, because the two are somewhat similar and easily confused. If the amount of menstruation and the number of days between periods change, it should not be taken lightly. Women who are not using contraceptives should be alert to the possibility of pregnancy and be careful when using medications to avoid harming the fetus.

Early pregnancy reaction refers to a series of reactions in the early stages of pregnancy (about six weeks after menstruation), which occur due to an increase in human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in the pregnant woman's body, a decrease in gastric acid secretion and a prolonged gastric emptying time, leading to dizziness, fatigue, loss of appetite, preference for sour food or aversion to greasy food, nausea, and vomiting in the morning. These symptoms generally do not require special treatment. After 12 weeks of pregnancy, as the HCG level in the body decreases, the symptoms will disappear naturally and appetite will return to normal.

1. Stopping of menstruation

The common signs of pregnancy that people notice are that as long as a woman is of childbearing age and has normal menstruation, she may be pregnant if she has sexual intercourse for more than two weeks after the normal menstrual period.

2. Breast pain, swelling and itching

Breast pain, swelling and itching are physiological phenomena in early pregnancy. In addition, there will be changes such as darkening of the areola, obvious veins under the skin of the breast, and obvious protrusion of the nipple.

3. Frequent nausea and vomiting

Almost all pregnant women in the early stages of pregnancy often feel nauseous and vomiting, especially at the beginning of the day. These symptoms vary from person to person, and some people have very mild symptoms, while others have very severe symptoms. Unless you have severe nausea and vomiting, you don't need to see a doctor. Otherwise, these are normal phenomena in early pregnancy.

4. Frequent urination

In the third month of pregnancy, because the bladder is compressed by the growing uterus, the bladder capacity becomes smaller. Early pregnancy symptoms often include frequent urination and increased frequency of going to the bathroom.

In short, when a woman becomes pregnant, the reactions described above will occur. If a woman who has sexual life has her menstruation delayed for one week and the above reactions occur, she is likely pregnant. At this time, women can do an early pregnancy test at home or go to the hospital for an early pregnancy test.
