The difference between plantar warts and cervical HPV

HPV belongs to the genus Papillomavirus of the family Papillomaviridae. It is a circular double-stranded DNA virus, which is mainly composed of 7800 to 7900 base pairs chemically bonded to form a closed circular double-stranded DNA containing genetic material. The outer icosahedral virus with 72 symmetric particles has an outer membrane diameter of 55nm and a molecular mass of about 5.4kD. HPV has various genotypes and different genotypes of HPV infection can cause different clinical changes. HPV is mainly related to low-risk HPV61, 42, 43, 44 and other types, which are mainly associated with mild squamous intraepithelial lesions and urinary warts and are associated with repeated inhalation. The main cervical HPV types are HPV16 and HPV18.

The HPV that causes plantar warts and cervical cancer is different. Plantar warts are mainly caused by low-risk HPV infection, while the HPV that causes cervical cancer belongs to high-risk HPV infection, which will continue to infect the cervix and cause cervical epithelial cells to become diseased. This is the difference between the two. If you have plantar warts, it is recommended to use laser treatment. If the cervix has high-risk HPV infection, you need to do a colposcopy first. As long as no disease occurs, you can have regular follow-up visits. About 80% of patients with high-risk HPV infection will become negative in about a year, so regular follow-up visits are very important. However, some people may experience persistent infection, which may cause cervical disease. It is recommended to undergo a colposcopy examination. If there is no problem, you can have regular follow-up visits.

Plantar warts are actually foot warts. Plantar warts are a type of skin growth caused by human papillomavirus infection. Plantar warts are actually common warts that occur on the soles of the feet, but because of their unique location, they are called plantar warts. Therefore, in clinical medicine, there is no need to distinguish between foot warts and plantar warts. The occurrence of plantar warts is usually directly related to some minor skin damage on the feet. For example, some trauma to the patient's feet, or repeated friction and pressure on the feet, and excessive sweating on the feet can all cause plantar warts.

Patients with plantar warts may experience more obvious pain, but some patients may not feel anything at all. If plantar warts are repeatedly compressed and rubbed, they will cause self-implantation and the number of plantar warts will increase.
