How long after menstruation is over

How long after menstruation is over

Many female friends do not have a certain understanding of the knowledge related to menstruation, so it is easy to cause great harm to the body due to their own negligence. For example, having sex before the menstruation is over may cause menstrual blood reflux and harm the health of the uterus. Generally speaking, you can have sex normally 2-3 days after the menstruation is over, but if you do not plan to get pregnant, you need to do a good job of contraception.

1. Harm of having sex before menstruation is over

Can I have sex before my period is over? As long as you are in your menstrual period, you cannot have sex until you are completely clean, because sex during your menstrual period is more dangerous and may cause retrograde menstrual blood, leading to adenomyosis and chocolate cysts. Adenomyosis will cause progressive worsening of dysmenorrhea, which will affect normal work and life. Chocolate cysts will gradually grow larger and may even have the risk of rupture. Also, the cysts will affect ovulation and may affect future fertility. Also, having sex during menstruation can easily bring foreign bacteria into the vagina, leading to endometritis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and salpingitis. In the future, you may develop fallopian tube obstruction, ectopic pregnancy, infertility, chronic pelvic pain, and so on. So don't have sex during your menstrual period and don't take the risk.

2. How long should you wait after your period ends to have sex?

Generally, normal sexual life can occur 2-3 days after the end of menstruation. During the menstrual period and before and after the menstrual period, women's sex hormone levels are low, which leads to a relatively low defense ability of the reproductive system and the self-cleaning ability of the vagina. Therefore, 2-3 days after the end of menstruation, when the hormone levels in the body gradually rise, it is a better time to have sex. Since the menstrual period and the week before and after are relatively safe periods, no mature follicles are discharged during this period. If unprotected sexual intercourse occurs, the chance of pregnancy is relatively low. You can use the safe period contraception method. If you do not plan to get pregnant, and you are close to ovulation or have abnormal ovulation, it is recommended to take contraceptive measures.

According to the conventional method of calculating the safe period, the ovulation period will be around 14 days from the official onset of menstruation. Therefore, if there are differences in the number of days in an individual's menstrual cycle, the time of ovulation will definitely fluctuate significantly. But generally speaking, the seven days before menstruation and the eight days after menstruation are within the safe period. Therefore, unless there are special circumstances, having sex on the second day after menstruation is within the safe period. Having sex at this time will not achieve pregnancy because the egg will not survive.

Under normal circumstances, women will ovulate normally about a week after their menstruation ends. However, due to the different physical conditions of each woman, and the changes in the details of the menstrual cycle, there will definitely be changes in the normal ovulation time of women, so on the second day after the menstrual period is over,

There is a certain chance of pregnancy during intercourse, but this chance is relatively low and only occurs in women with abnormal physical constitutions and special menstrual cycles. If you want to effectively achieve complete contraception, you should still use condoms or take birth control pills.
