What happens if you drink alcohol during confinement?

Many women are addicted to alcohol before they give birth. Some like to smoke, and some are more interested in drinking. They want to drink immediately after giving birth. However, because they need to breastfeed their babies and consider that alcohol will affect the secretion of milk, they cannot drink alcohol during the confinement period. Because whatever the mother drinks will affect the baby’s drink, smoking, drinking, and coffee are not allowed.

Tobacco and alcohol are irritating substances and are not good for mothers. "Smoking is harmful to your health" is not only a warning written on cigarette boxes, but also a sobering reminder not to commit "chronic suicide." Smoking not only reduces milk secretion, but the smoke also contains toxic nicotine. Although not much nicotine enters the breast milk, it is still harmful to the baby. Moreover, the gas exhaled by other people smoking indoors also directly endangers the health of the baby, which is passive smoking. This will be a serious drug phenomenon for newborn babies. At the same time, it is easy to cause respiratory tract infections in children and reduce the body's resistance.

Wine contains alcohol. When a mother drinks wine, the alcohol can enter her breast milk. Although drinking a small amount of alcohol has no major effect on infants, drinking a large amount of alcohol can cause varying degrees of alcohol poisoning in infants, causing the infants to experience deep sleep, deep breathing, dull sense of touch, and excessive sweating. The detoxification function of the infant's liver is not yet perfect, and its ability to detoxify alcohol is insufficient. Therefore, if the mother drinks more alcohol, the baby will suffer greater damage.

Mothers should not drink strong tea during the breastfeeding period, because tea contains caffeine, which enters the baby's body through human milk. The baby is prone to intestinal cramps and crying for no reason, and may even make the baby too excited and unable to sleep well, making him too tired and causing complications.

Therefore, for the health of their children, breastfeeding mothers should not smoke, drink alcohol or drink strong tea.
