How long after cervical smear can I have sex

For many people, especially women, physical health is very important. Many people go for regular checkups. Women will also undergo uterine examinations when they reach a certain age. Cervical smear is a method of detecting and diagnosing cancer. Many people don’t know whether they can have sex after doing a cervical scraping. So how long after a cervical scraping can you have sex?

1. How long after cervical scraping can you have sex

Under normal circumstances, doctors will recommend not having sex within one month after the examination to avoid infection.

Although sexual life is normal, if you want to have a better and healthier life in the future, you must remember not to have sexual life within one month after the cervical smear test. Short-term endurance is for longer-term happiness in the future.

2. What does the cervical smear test?

The cervical smear now generally refers to the liquid-based thin-layer cytology test, namely the TCT test. TCT specimens are collected using a special endocervical canal brush to collect exfoliated epithelial cells from the cervical os and endocervical canal. The collected cells are washed into a vial containing Thin Prep preservation solution and processed to make a thin layer of cell smear. This smear has a clear cell structure and can distinguish abnormal epithelial cells, especially highly diseased cells with small numbers and small sizes, thereby confirming cervical cancer.

3. Precautions after cervical scraping

1. The person being examined should avoid sexual intercourse within 24 hours before the scraping.

2. Do not flush the vagina, use vaginal suppositories, or perform intravaginal examinations within 24-48 hours before the planned examination.

3. When there is inflammation, treatment should be performed first, and then the scraping should be performed to avoid the slide being filled with a large number of white blood cells and inflammatory cells, which may affect the diagnosis.

4. It is best to schedule the examination during the non-menstrual period.

5. Do not have sex on the day after the examination.
