When they reach the menopause stage, many people often encounter some unwanted physical situations. For example, many people often feel hot and dry during menopause, feel particularly uncomfortable when sleeping at night, sweat frequently, and experience dry mouth and thirst. You can prepare some fruits and water for yourself to moisturize your mouth. At the same time, you should also have regular physical examinations to safely and smoothly go through menopause. As humans, we must drink enough water every day to make our bodies healthier, but many people don't like to drink water in their daily lives, which eventually leads to dry mouth and thirst. Drinking water is no longer effective. So what causes dry mouth and thirst? There are many reasons for this, such as eating spicy food for a long time and getting angry, and some elderly patients with diabetes will also suffer from dry mouth and thirst. Although dry mouth is not an independent disease, this discomfort does bother many people, especially the elderly, for a long time or temporarily. Severe dry mouth can make it difficult to move the tongue, affecting verbal communication and eating. The following conditions can cause dry mouth: 1. Diabetic patients may experience dry mouth and thirst due to increased plasma osmotic pressure and polyuria caused by increased blood sugar; 2. Patients with rhinitis, sinusitis, and nasal septum deviation may experience dry mouth due to poor nasal ventilation and mouth breathing, which causes evaporation of water in the mouth. 3. Asthma patients may experience dry mouth due to excessive evaporation of water from the respiratory tract due to faster and deeper breathing; 4. Patients with sleep apnea open their mouths at night to breathe, causing dry mouth in the morning; 5. Menopausal people may suffer from dry mouth due to excessive tension, anxiety, etc. 6. Some patients with pituitary tumors may also experience dry mouth; 8. Dry mouth in patients with xerostomia syndrome. The disease is mainly caused by certain factors that destroy the main salivary glands in the mouth, such as the parotid glands, submandibular glands, sublingual glands, etc., while also inhibiting the secretion of the lacrimal glands and glands in the nasal mucosa, causing patients to experience unbearable dry mouth, dry eyes, and dry nose. In severe cases, it is difficult to turn the tongue and close the eyes. Dry mouth does not mean thirst. Thirst is often seen when drinking too little water, eating too much salty food or a large amount of dry food, after strenuous exercise and after sweating profusely. This thirst caused by drinking too little water or losing too much water can be relieved by replenishing water; but it is difficult to be effective for dry mouth caused by various diseases, and drinking too much water often increases the burden on the kidneys, which is especially inappropriate for the elderly and those with poor renal function. Therefore, we would like to remind everyone that when dry mouth cannot be relieved within a short period of time after drinking water, you should go to the hospital for a comprehensive examination in time to make a clear diagnosis and carry out effective treatment. |
