Does low basal body temperature affect pregnancy?

Does low basal body temperature affect pregnancy?

I believe that many people will encounter low basal body temperature in their lives. There are two phenomena that should be judged for low basal body temperature. If you are not pregnant, when the corpus luteum shrinks and stops secreting progesterone, the body temperature will drop. When it reaches a normal baseline, menstruation will occur. If you are pregnant, you also need to be checked. Only after multiple tests can you determine this problem and how much impact it has on the body.

Low basal body temperature is common in 2 situations:

(1) If there is no pregnancy, when the corpus luteum shrinks and stops secreting progesterone, the body temperature will drop to the baseline and menstruation will occur.

(2) If the ovaries are not functioning properly, there will be no ovulation and no corpus luteum will be formed, and the body temperature will remain low.

If it is the second case and the basal body temperature remains low, it is best to go to the hospital for relevant examinations.

Low basal body temperature

Basal body temperature, also known as resting body temperature, refers to the body temperature measured after 6-8 hours of sleep when a woman's body temperature is not affected by exercise, diet or emotional changes. Low basal body temperature is a concern for many female friends.

Correct method of measuring basal body temperature:

(1) Prepare a thermometer and master the reading method to ensure accuracy.

(2) One night before going to bed, drop the mercury column of the thermometer to below 35 degrees and place it within reach after waking up.

(3) After getting up in the morning, immediately pick up the thermometer and read the tongue temperature 5 minutes later and record it on a special table.

(4) Do not get up, urinate, eat, talk, etc. before measuring your temperature.

(5) Record whether there are any factors that affect basal body temperature, such as colds, insomnia, drinking, medication, etc.

If your basal body temperature measured by the above method is low, don't worry. The basal body temperature value varies from person to person. You can also go to a regular hospital and listen to the doctor's instructions.

What causes low basal body temperature?

A woman's menstrual cycle begins on the first day of her period. The length of the cycle varies from person to person, ranging from 21 to 35 days, with an average of about 28 days. It is divided by the day of ovulation and is divided into the preovulatory, postovulatory follicular and luteal phases. During this period, the basal body temperature is high or low. So, what causes low basal body temperature?

(1) If there is no pregnancy, when the corpus luteum shrinks and stops secreting lutein, the body temperature will drop, return to the baseline, and menstruation will occur.

(2) If the ovarian function is poor, there is no ovulation or corpus luteum formation, and the body temperature will continue to be low.

Therefore, low basal body temperature has little to do with female friends, and it is useful to know your basal body temperature.
