Why does my waist hurt before and after menstruation?

Women's menstruation is mainly for the metabolism of blood in the body, so every time a woman has her period, she will bleed a lot. In addition to bleeding, women are usually very weak during menstruation, and some may also experience other symptoms. Some women experience constant abdominal pain when their period comes, while others experience back pain. So, why do women experience lower back pain before and after menstruation?

1. What causes lower back pain before and after menstruation?

It is considered that pelvic inflammatory disease may be caused by catching a cold or not paying attention to hygiene during menstruation. You need to go to the hospital for a gynecological examination. Live a regular life, pay attention to hygiene and avoid catching cold. You can take Chinese patent medicine to treat pelvic inflammatory disease and use a hot water bottle to warm your waist.

2. Causes of menstrual pain

Eighty percent of girls are affected by "primary dysmenorrhea". This menstrual pain can cause serious disruption to daily life. Menstrual pain or dysmenorrhea is specifically characterized by severe cramping in the lower abdomen. Dysmenorrhea is divided into two categories: primary and secondary.

1. Primary dysmenorrhea

Primary dysmenorrhea usually begins one year after a girl's first menstruation. Primary dysmenorrhea does not imply an unrecognized condition. The true cause of dysmenorrhea has not yet been determined. One hypothesis is that once ovulation occurs, natural chemicals produced by the female body called prostaglandins are produced from the lining of the uterus. Some prostaglandins cause the uterine wall to contract, reducing blood supply and thus causing severe cramps in the lower abdomen. The pain lessens with age. Many women notice that menstrual pain decreases after their first child.

2. Secondary dysmenorrhea

Secondary dysmenorrhea patients are mostly older women and are caused by disorders of the female reproductive organs. Secondary dysmenorrhea usually begins early in the menstrual cycle and may last throughout the cycle.

3. Dietary adjustment for dysmenorrhea

Patients with dysmenorrhea should have a diversified diet and should not be picky eaters. They should regularly eat vegetables and fruits that have the effect of regulating qi and promoting blood circulation, such as shepherd's purse, orchid root, coriander, carrots, oranges, bergamot, ginger, etc. People who are weak and have insufficient qi and blood should eat foods that replenish qi, blood, liver and kidneys regularly, such as chicken, duck, fish, eggs, milk, animal liver and kidneys, fish, beans, etc.
