Is it normal for menstruation to take more than 15 days to come?

Every healthy woman will have menstruation every month. A healthy menstrual period is 3 to 7 days, and each monthly cycle is 28 to 30 days. If the time changes, it also depends on the time of advance or delay. Generally, there is no problem if the period is within seven days before or after menstruation. If it exceeds seven days, it should be taken seriously. It may be caused by contraceptives, endocrine disorders, gynecological diseases, etc. Some people take more than 15 days to have their period. Is it normal for their period to take more than 15 days to have their period? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. Is it normal for menstruation to come more than 15 days later?

A delay of 15 days is considered abnormal. Menstruation, also known as the menstrual cycle, is generally 28 to 30 days. Seven days in advance or late is still within the normal range. The length of the cycle varies from person to person. If it exceeds this time, it is not a big deal if the menstruation is delayed by less than ten days. If the menstruation is delayed by more than ten days, it is best to go to the hospital for a detailed examination.

If it is due to psychological factors such as mental tension, stress, environmental changes, or some diseases that affect the endocrine system. Can cause delayed menstruation. If menstruation is delayed only 1-2 times occasionally and there are no other accompanying symptoms, it does not fall into the category of menstrual disorders.

If the interval between menstrual cycles is more than 35 days, it is called oligomenorrhea, and if menstruation stops for more than 3 menstrual cycles, it is called amenorrhea. The absence of ovulation after amenorrhea can also lead to problems such as osteoporosis and endometrial hyperplasia, which must be taken seriously and the patient should go to the hospital for examination.

2. The following are the basic symptoms of irregular menstruation

1. Early menstruation. Early menstruation refers to a shortened menstrual cycle that is shorter than 21 days and occurs for more than two consecutive cycles. It is an ovulatory functional uterine bleeding with a biphasic basal body temperature and a short follicular phase of only 7 to 8 days; or a luteal phase that is shorter than 10 days, or a temperature rise of less than 0.5°C.

2. Delayed menstruation: Menstruation is delayed for more than 7 days, or even more than 40 to 50 days, and occurs for more than two consecutive menstrual cycles. For those who ovulate, the basal body temperature is biphasic, but the follicular phase is long and the high temperature phase is low; for those who do not ovulate, the basal body temperature is monophasic.

3. Prolonged menstrual period. The menstrual cycle is normal, but the menstrual period is prolonged, lasting more than 7 days or even 2 weeks. People with inflammation usually have lower abdominal pain, which worsens during menstruation. They also have a lot of leucorrhea, which is yellow or yellow-white, thick, and has an odor. Those with incomplete corpus luteum atrophy also have heavy menstrual flow; those with prolonged endometrial repair still have a small amount of persistent vaginal bleeding after the normal menstrual period.

3. Notes

If a woman's menstruation is delayed by 15 days, the answer is definitely because of some abnormality in her body. It is recommended that women seek medical attention for appropriate examinations and treatments. If she is pregnant, it is definitely a good thing. If she is not pregnant, it is necessary to find out the reason why the menstruation is delayed for so many days and then actively treat it.
